What makes the engine stall while driving?
I seem to have a style of cornering that makes the engine cut out sometimes, it seems to happen more on certain cars. What exactly does it?

engage the clutch to keep the revs up.

It happens during hard braking, wheels locking up - but the engine should re-ignite once you're off the brakes again, but in Dirt Rally it does not. Just a thing they overlooked I guess.

Crap physics! Lol, It happens when you back off the throttle over yumps and jumps or lock up the wheels.

It is a bit of a daft error as it would happen in real life of course, but not as often as it does in the game I think.

It happens more on the RWD cars. On some stages with certain cars, just braking hard over a bumpy surface causes a stall. Originally the cars were too heavy (V1 physics), but Codies revisited the physics to make it more relaistic (V2). However they went too far and now the cars are on the light side. A V3 physics pass was contemplated but never happened. The outdated Ego game engine is limited in regards to how accurate the physics can ever be (so it would never be perfect anyway), and it seems that the devs have decided to focus on a new and improved game engine for their next game rather than pour time and resources into a V3 pass for the current game.

Remember to hold the clutch in over jumps while braking, to prevent stalling. if you brake in mid-air, the car will stall.

this is some BS in my eyes, when i drive with auto clutch it should work like auto clutch.
if i drive with manual clutch than the thing makes sense, but the motor stalling in automatic gears is just a bug or a oversight, i cant think its on purouse?

That's because Automatic isn't actual automatic. As you can see in-game gauge, there are still gear levels though you choose Automatic. It just works like automatic but actually it's manual. In other words, it's automatic upshift and downshift.

lol right it makes sense now. i use semi auto as the automatic is very inadequate at places, but i allways wondered about that stalling.
