I'd say it's pretty much essential for this game, but even in games where a game pad is fine a wheel feels so much better.

The cheapest wheels you should get are used logitech driving force GT, a logitech MOMO (they are old and not produced anymore)or a used G27. Sometimes they will show up for sell on ebay or craiglist, you can also look at sim games forums (most have a hardware section) where people sell them after they upgraded their wheels.

Do not buy these cheap knock off wheels, alot of them will not have force feedback or it will be really crappy, these wheels just do not do justice to the sim experience and will give you the wrong impression of the game (or games) you use them on.

Trust me, i once bought a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ cheap wheel and sold it like a month later, it was really terrible and turned me off from sim racing in general. Not until like 4 years ago i decided to give it a go again and got me a DFGT, the diference was night and day.

Do not waste your money, it is better to play with a xbox controller than a cheap crap wheel.

It really depends on what wheel it is. But unless it is something like a used Logitech DFGT or better, then probably not. Cheap wheels are usually more trouble than they're worth.

This[www.amazon.com] is what i'm looking at. It seems to be the best cheap one. I'm also considering getting the Logitech one.

That's a bungee cord wheel (as in it has no force feedback at all). Also I don't think it's supported by Dirt Rally, so the game might only see it as a generic controller, which might mean gamepad-like deadzones (not fun).

Wouldn't buy it personally. You can get a used DFGT for similar price and be WAY better off.

That's a children's toy with a Ferrari logo on it, not a proper gaming steering wheel. Get something with FFB and and a half decent steering angle. DFGT or T150 for example

I got a Thrustmaster T150 last month and yes, it is worth it. Wheel is much more immersive and feels more natural, but going from a gamepad means I have to relearn to drive again. If you’ve got spare cash, go for it. This and a 21:9 monitor – so much better than the standard 16:9 screen.
DFGT is a great bargin entry wheel.thrustmaster t150 also.anything below wouldnt touch.

CSL Elite is really good apparently

- Logitech Driving Force GT
- Logitech G25
- Logitech G27
- Thrustmaster T150
- Thrustmaster T300

These are the wheels you should look for. You can buy any of them used, if you look around. Other than these, don't bother.
