Advanced Tactics Gold

This or Armored Brigade
I love Matrix games and play WitP, Strategic Command, and others. I’m slowly transitioning to matrix over paradox because of their dlc policy. With this sale going on, I’m looking at Advanced Tactics, Armored Brigade, Command, and even ICBM. However, I’m more interested in the first two. So my question for matrix lovers is how do these two games compare? Or is there a different game that you would recommend? I like the rts feel of armored brigade and the customizable campaign. On the other hand, advanced tactics looks like a in depth game similar to War in the West or War in the Pacific. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Are you not considering War In The East ? IMO it's the #1 Matrixgame all times. Or maybe are you waiting for WITE2 in spring ?

ATG is great but a bit dated now, but remains a great game of course. It has some great mods like Global Domination which recreates a strategical WW2 full campaign but solely playable in PBEM (no solo for the mod). You could also consider the new game, Shadow Empire, made by Vic, the ATG (and Decisive Campaign series) dev. It a futuristic (Dune Like) wargame with 4x elements. Great game IMO. You should maybe watch a video or read a review/AAR ...

Otherwise I purchased ICBM but havent played yet. Just the tutorial. It's quite arcade game and can be fun. But I need more time on it to judge it.

Command is the monster simulator (If you are talking about Command Modern Operations). It's absolutely enormous but you will need to invest a lot of time in it. The learning curve is so steep ... But the game is unique. I shouldn't even say "game". Simulator is definitely more appropriate word. Just one massive glitch IMO : no multiplayer. The most difficult part of learning Command, for me, is to learn about the military equipment. All modern weapons / plateforms / sensors /etc. for all nations are faithfully modeled in it. No arcade here. Pure military sim ! If you already know these technologies, half the work is done. But if you need to learn from scratch, then be ready to get absorbed in it for hundred of hours, if not more ... Just browsing the gigantic database is an endurance sport in itself ! :-)))

So it really depend on what you are looking for. If it's fun then ICBM or ATG.
If it's hardcore simulation, then Command.

If it's fun and complexity , then Shadow Empire.

It it's trying to spend Christmas in Moscow, then WITE.

PS: I don't know Armored Brigade.

Armored Brigade is good fun. Its great for creating tons of battles and smashing hardware together endlessly. Idk how it compares to ATG but they are pretty different games.

Another one to consider is Flashpoint Campaigns. Really interesting WEGO cold war gone hot command simulation.

I briefly considered war in the east. However, I figured war in the Pacific would be adequate for me seeing as I am much more interested in that part of world war 2. I am just not so sure how much of war in the east I’d play when I have the option to deal with carriers, amphibious landings, and island hoping. Command Modern Operations does interest me, I just don’t have the money this go around to pick that up. Shadow Empire I don’t know too much about. I don’t tend to have too much interest in space 4x games with the notable exception of Distant Worlds.

and never forget "the operational art of war", hex-based, any conflict of the last 100 years, lots of scenarios with a wide range of scale.
