I noticed two different styles in the preview art

does this mean the Hou PC compilation has option to switch between the styles used in different editions?

Replicator has Higurashi When They Cry Hou - Ch.1 Onikakushi

You can switch between those two styles. For other styles you'd need a mod

In this Steam version, unmodded, you can switch in the config menu, or just press "P" while reading. If you installed 07th-mod, things may be a little different; be sure to read their instructions.

07th-mod[07th-mod.com] makes the Steam version more like Alchemist's PS3 port (Sui)*, (almost) complete with its sprites, CGs, voices (using the same cast as for the anime), lip-sync (only on the PS3 sprites), and OP movies. It also gives you a choice of how much to match the text to the voices, since Sui's text and dialog were slightly changed, including censoring a few of the dirty jokes and trademark references.

One thing that (AFAIK—though admittedly I haven't looked at it for a while, so it's possible for this to change at some point, maybe) the mod does not include is Alchemist's music, which is quite different from the original stuff.

* Incidentally, Sui was largely a copy of their earlier PS2 port, known as Matsuri.

Oh, and they also provided translations of some console-only arcs.

I definitely want all the original dirty jokes, not sure what setting for that

Set the matching to minimum. That gives you the original text. Be advised: in addition to it not always matching what the voices are saying, there will also be a few sections of dialog with no voices. That's just the price you have to pay.

If you still don't know how to do this, again, read their instructions. I have no intention of copying them here.
