nicest looking - The Gura Gura Man's custom sprite mod (unfortunately incomplete).
Otherwise I don't really care all that much. I just play with the Kurosaki sprites.

As much as I like that sprite, doesn't it strike you as unfitting to the narrative and lore? She looks like she's 30 there.

Personally I think R07's sprites are the most dynamic and expressive, but if I had to choose something else then I would say the Alchemist sprites are best. I don't think there are many other options though.

What about the new versions included with the game?

MG's sprites are okay. They're not horrible. Both MG and Alchemist were going for a more traditional, anime-inspired style for their spritework, but I think Alchemist pulls it off much better.

Here's a side-by-side[image.noelshack.com] of the original against the MG and PS2/PS3 (I think) Alchemist sprites.

Some of MG's are... strange, I guess. I'm pretty sure the artist who did them was/is an eroge artist, and some of those influences seem like they leeched into the art. On top of that the 3/4ths view sprites all have a weird CGish look to them. Some of Takano's sprites are abominations, as well, and I think there's not enough diversity in the characters' facial features or expressions.
