Turned on fullscreen and game broke
I launched for first time on linux and went straight to settings. Changed resolution to that of my screen and put full screen. Now it is just a black screen with sounds.

I don't personally have a linux, but I've seen a lot of people posting about black screen problems related to resolution.
You can change the resolution back to default by editing the config file and the problem should go away, but someone else will have to help you work out how to get full screen unfortunately.

I am struggling to locate the config file

Found out a work around. So first I had to go to .config/unity3d/MangaGamer/Higurashi When They Cry - Ch.1 Onikakushi inside my home folder. The your edit the prefs file.

Here the width had set itself to something like 5200. I changed that to match my screen. Height was alread correct though some may need to change that. After saving I had to set the file to read only or game auto changed it at launch.

After this it displayed but the game launched on wrong screen (multimonitor) So I went back to file turned off read only and set <pref name="UnitySelectMonitor" type="int">-0</pref> . (0 means primary monitor.) After this I turned read only back on and relaunched game.

Yup, this thing is very capricious when it comes to its graphical settings. Having a multiheaded setup probably makes the problem worse.

The problem I most often see is it setting the window size to 0! But making it large enough to fill the screen, plus about 1000% to spare, is a nice option for it too.

Also, very intuitive place for the file, huh?

File is in a different place for different kinds of games however this is a unity game and that is how unity does it as a standard I guess. This problem could be solved by having ingame display selector and manual resolution for full screen.
