Human portraits not working? Loading save freezes game

Title.
Yes, I did pick the option to show human portraits, but they still had their bird portraits. As for the save, it was saved just as the second day started, and I clicked that top right button just to see what it would do (speed up text/skipping) and exited to check for options to turn the portraits on.

As far as I know, it only shows the human portraits once. I don't think you can have them appear as humans throughout the game.

I clicked the show human portraits option too. I still saw pigeons... I'm guessing it might've been a joke except for the beginning when each of the main birds is introduced...

The human portraits only show up during their introductions. The rest of the game has the regular bird portraits.

KezzieZ is right. It is on the character 'introductions' only where you will see human portraits.

I wish the human portraits could've been utilized more though. They look awesome in human and bird form.
