I want to talk about BBL
So my heart was ripped out. I'm all sad now because the ending! You would think that SOMEONE would have written a fan fic about the events that come after the ending, but there's nothing!
And I need more!
Hey, I know they said it was near impossible, but they did hint that Hiyoko could be revived right? Of course they would have to fix the memories. I just wonder why there aren't any fan fics around that talk about the possibility.
There's this big hole in my heart I can't live with guys!
Someone help me fill it! Am I the only one who believes that Hiyoko could come back? Sure there's only her brain, which was severely damaged, but, again, they said there's still hope!
And I NEED that hopeeee. Please help?

I played through all of the game, epilogue included. I know Ryouta ends up getting cured (possibility) but I wanted the protagonist to survive too somehow. They said they kept a promise to the protag, but I'm not sure what.

If this may help... think of Hatoful Boyfriend in quantum terms, with all endings being equally valid at any time, with whichever ending being expressed is the one you're playing at the moment. In that sense, whichever ending is the "true" ending is the one you wish it to be. BBL is just one of several story arcs, and it's reserved for last because, without playing the other story arcs, it cannot be properly understood.

Some may say that Hato Moa has declared that BBL is the "canon" ending. Perhaps, but since this is a game and it is up to the player to decide, I disagree. The player is the one choosing the actions for the protagonist, so whichever ending YOU prefer is the one that is the "real" ending... whether that ending is in tragedy or in glorious True Pudding.

That's not exactly a fanfic, but sometimes a different perspective can be just as useful.

My interpretation of the epilogue was that Hiyoko was revived somehow, although the radio program bit about BBL in Holiday Star was ambiguous, so who knows.

The nature of it being a visual novel means there is no single timeline, though--effectively a bunch of parallel timelines.

Meichin: You have inspired me to write an ending. I will post a link to it when I am finished.
