Greater Doppelganger Grinding

Does anyone have any advice for killing a Greater Doppelganger before it transforms? I've killed one before it transformed before, creating a page for it in the beastiary.

I have two heroes that take out one Doppelganger each and then i reset.
Lvl 40 Human Jock Warrior with maxed out Power Lunge, +5 weapons and some Initiative gear.
Lvl 43 Elf Rocker Thief with maxed out Shadow Chain, +5 weapons and Initiative and damage gear.
