Seems like you did not have to wait for a long time ;)
You can purchase the deluxiest edition to get the DLC : Here be Dragons
The extra content of the Deluxiest edition is not realy worth anything.
The grinding farm scale to your level, so it's always hard (and even harder if you don't keep up with good gear).
I've never watched the artbook, but it's there.
IF you like the game, you will want the DLC to extend it's lenght... but that's pretty much it.
Grinding farm is purely optional. If you already have Here be Dragons, you're good.
Edit : I'd have to edit my friend to emphasize the second line as "offering a rebate" (game + DLC cost more)... but I figure she can do the math and figure out (because she knows me) why I put the DLC so high in the list.
Of what dungeon do you speak off? What is your party build (characters, level and gear)?
If I know something usefull on that front, I'll politely share it. (edit : and I mean realy politely since you have completed and perfected a lot of games, I can respect that)
Surfer Elf Mage: lvl 28
Rich Kid Dwarf Warrior: lvl 28
Lab Rat Elf Paladin: lvl 28
Goth Elf Hunter: lvl 27
I have pretty much all +4 gear and around 300 gold.
The area I'm stuck on is called Lower tunnels level 30 difficulty. (I think the end boss is a giant crab but not positive I'm remembering correctly)
The highest level area before this is level 17 or so if I recall.
I do believe that both the Salt Flats, The Past and all of Here Be Dragons have mobs above level 17. Especially Here be Dragons has some great grind spots. But do keep in mind that you are doing the lower tunnels - a dungeon that was designed to be the endiest of endgames.
You can edit you characters in the tavern for a fee, by the way. The tavern keeps the character's level but lets you change your player, race, class and skill points - admittedly for a fee. It is great for getting rid of skills that may be good early-to-mid game but just don't hold up in the end game, like Fireball.
Oh, also locking some people out of the Grind Farms (a brilliant addition to the game!) is a bit of a derpmove on the developers part. That I most certainly agree with.
Personally, I tend to do dungeons way after I'm past their levels (in this case somewhere between 36 and 39). I tend to bring lots of 10 Gold potions since sleeping is not an option. I'd do the oriental or dragon expension first.
Back to your original question, the grinding farm might be though at your level. I'll check with my higher level save (the two others are in the 10-15 level) and update accordingly.
Edit : Done the first fight at the farm with the following team. Long and though, but doable. Got 7500 XP + 3000 XP for quantity (5), 149 gold +29 bonus, heavy armor drop. At my levels I got a barely noticable increase in yellow bar. It takes about 3m (I got 2m59.70s on a stopwatch).
Rocker Human Cleric (42)
Jock Dwarf Warrior (42)
Bookworm Human Psion (42)
Lab Rat Human Mage (42)
Rich Kid Elf Thief (42)
In comparison, a fight against 5 jester (lev 30) gave me 2136 XP +854 bonus (28,47%), 65 gold +12 bonus (43,26%), burn charm drop. Takes about 1m (I got 1m03.95s on a a stopwatch).
Sadly, it does not answer your initial question, but I hope this help.
Apparently what I needed to do was abandon the quest in order to do other quests. I don't remember ever having to do this in the first game. It's been a while since I played +1 though. As mentioned it looks like you can stable characters at the pub if anyone is having trouble with their party. I may end up doing that if i encounter a boss (without minions) that is extremely powerful and I cannot beat after more leveling. My party is very good for damaging groups, adding weaken with smite stunning with pommel strike, and regaining mana without potions or food (Cleric).
