More chairs at table?

I have been playing this game for a while (on iPad) and I still only have to players and can't figure out how to get more. Does anyone know when/how it get to add more players to my table?

Check out the Magazine (top left of screen). There are lots of things to 'buy' with your gold. Different things appear according to your progress through the game.

At Spawn Point village there's a quest called GEEK that grants you the other three chairs. I got it on day 32 with my current party.

How do you put some of your characters in to the back row. I want my mage behind my warrior so he can avoid some of the hits from the enemy front row

andyk456 Player characters in KoP&P2 don't have a back row. Monsters choose what character to hit via the threat system. Characters with high threat are more likely to be hit than characters with low threat. So give your tanky warrior items and abilities that increase his threat, and give your wimpy caster items and abilities that lower his threat. Beware that monster abilities that affect adjacent characters or the whole row may get around your ability to hide your low threat characters. You can't do anything about whole row attacks, but you can mitigate the adjacent character attacks by placing your high threat main tank at one end of the table, with the wimpy guys separated by at least one other chair so they don't get splashed by adjacent attacks.
