Metal Slug Vania!?!
How has this only just become a thing???
This should have been the type of Metroidvanias that came out instead of all those rogue tryhard souls likes that oversaturated the genre....

This sounds like the coolest thing. Just deciding whether to get it on switch, or wait til afternoon today when my steam deck arrives and play it there lol.

If you want a short list of metroidvania that did not fall on the trap of souls like ♥♥♥♥ I can give you some, just tell me if you're interested and I'll start to pick some from my own lib to put them here

Ya i would say if you about to get a Deck you should just get it on that, don't give Nintardo money and not even be able to access your save data

I'll put some well known in case you didn't played them yet and some less known if you didn't dig into the abyss of steam:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/332200/Axiom_Verge/
https://store.steampowered.com/app/946030/Axiom_Verge_2/
https://store.steampowered.com/app/2671230/BLADE_CHIMERA/ (in case you like what team lady bug did and know their games you also can try their free SMT metroidvania they made for SMT Strange Journey promotion back then)
https://store.steampowered.com/app/282530/Castlevania_Lords_of_Shadow__Mirror_of_Fate_HD/ (this one often get missed by people who played the other two cause it was a little spin off that takes place between 1 and 2 for the 3DS, it's a cool game with a classic sidescrolling gameplay mixed with the god of war aspect of lords of shadow)
https://store.steampowered.com/app/630310/The_Mummy_Demastered/
https://store.steampowered.com/app/233980/UnEpic/
https://store.steampowered.com/app/334940/Yokus_Island_Express/
So now for the less known imo:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/262960/Castle_In_The_Darkness/
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1299320/Midnight_Castle_Succubus_DX/ !WARNING! this one is an NSFW game that you can launch in safe mode, it is a not so bad Castlevania 2 like and you totally can enjoy it with or without the sex aspect
https://store.steampowered.com/app/586880/Mini_Ghost/ (spin off from Ghost 1.0 (good MV too) in a megaman aestetic)
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1436590/Phoenotopia_Awakening/
https://store.steampowered.com/app/293440/Elliot_Quest/ (those two are particular since they're Zelda 2 likes, more or less metroidvanias with dungeons, Phoenotopia really plays like Zelda 2 while Elliot Quest mix it with Kid Icarus gameplay)
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1297390/Inexistence_Rebirth/
https://store.steampowered.com/app/447780/LostWinds/ (MV for kids, not so bad, not so great, there's a second game too)
https://store.steampowered.com/app/851280/MindSeize/
https://store.steampowered.com/app/916730/Gato_Roboto/
https://store.steampowered.com/app/822540/Escape_From_Tethys/
https://store.steampowered.com/app/319140/Xeodrifter/

Ya i am aware of the mainstream ones, got Mirror of Fate at launch on 3DS,
got Axiom Verge Physical on Wii U to support the dev that got screwed over and even got Mummy Demastered physical when it was available.
(it was pretty simple but Mummy Demastered had a top tier OST).

Did hear/try Blade Chimera but it throws up constant errors on older windows some of these newer Metroidvanias use game maker that is no longer supported on old OS.

Did actually see the Succubus one back in the day but the closest i am willing to get to degenerate anime games is Record of Lodoss War or Tower Hunter and that STILL has a game breaking bug they never fixed before making a sequel...
(if i want to play Castlevania 2 i will just play Revamped or the other one)

i am mainly looking for 16-32bit+ type metroidvanias like this and ones i missed like
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1413660/Elderand/
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1203630/Record_of_Lodoss_WarDeedlit_in_Wonder_Labyrinth/

That also support 21:9 Ultrawide like Monster Boy or have a patch to force it to like Elderand.
(not really looking for 8 bit since they over saturated the market with them of course unless they are really good or unique like infernax)
Turbo Kid was also pretty unique as well but i never 100% it since it kind of devolved into a dungeon crawler...
(that one half pipe sky Dungeon was fun but it didn't last long before leading into a regular underground dungeon)

MindSeize looks good, that prob one i missed, i may have seen Inexistence at one point but don't remember it.
(Maybe because it was trash but it looks like it was rereleased/remade)
I'll check it out thanks.

Used to look through steam upcoming regularly but it's such a mess now most times it's not even worth it anymore...

is it actually a metroidvania tho?
it doesn't look like it or mention it on the store page and if not this beats it by default.
