It's so needed, having the possibility of playing against CPU.
Making offline for this wouldn't be impossible, but definitely daunting-ish, I'd say a way they could do it is similar to Poker Night at the Inventory. You play against a random selection of characters as they (probably) add more, and each character has their own "style". For example the pig can be reckless, the fox more smart although occasionally taking risks, etc. Where the various AIs would essentially act as difficulty levels.
That's my idea though, so it's not necessarily a good one.
