Game no longer launches on Linux after 2.3 update
Is anyone else playing on Linux able to launch the game after the update today? When I press the Play button, it shows as running for a few seconds and then it shuts down, no windows appear on screen. Tried several Proton versions, but all behave the same. Also tried to verify the integrity of game files.

Same thing happens for me. Ubuntu 24.04 and latest stable Nvidia 550.120.0. The game's launch log doesn't seem to show anything obvious. The game simply exits.
Hi, what i actually need to do? What i needt to do with this archive? Is that correct link? https://github.com/AxerTheAxe/unitymain-patch
Got same issue on Pop!_OS. Gonna wait until it's patched again instead of relying on third-party exes.
F in the chat for my daily login...
having same problem on steam deck obviously
Oh, i just something with something, thanks it's launched
rip my progress in dailies and unilog events
Good lord guys. You're posting a bona-fide CRACK on a Steam forum.

Clearly the Steam page managers won't notice this, won't communicate it to the developers, and won't get it patched out in the next release, right?

Right?

...yall have no concept of operational security istfg. Good job on risking breaking Linux because yall can't keep your gacha addiction in your wallets.

Someone else is having this black screen/only audio during cinematics after using the fix?

this game use AVProVideo (as Unity plugin)
in log you can see in
<wineprefix>/drive_c/users/<NAME>/AppData/LocalLow/bluepoch/Reverse_ 1999/logicLog

ERROR==>[AVProVideo] Error: Decode failed. Possible codec not supported, video resolution/bit-depth too high, or insufficient system resources.

that AVProVideo require video acceleration to decode 1440p videos - that game uses

and "default wine" - does not include video acceleration.
means - wine you use does not have it

I think Proton-experimental in Steam have hardware-video acceleration, saw other people saying it was working for them - so try to change Proton version in Steam for that game.

Nah, that didn't help. Unfortunately, have to use third party .exe

That public repo mentioned above - got deleted for reason:

Update: author did not consider that the developers could patch this if it spread to cheaters, and decided to delete the repository after being informed.

I can share original way to launch game on Linux if someone need - in private messages (add me on steam and message).
Not in public.

Unfortunately, neither Proton Experimental or last versions of Proton GE fix videos not playing for me. Anyone had better luck? It happens both on my Nvidia GPU as well as my laptop's Intel integrated graphics...

Not sure what part you're pointing to? I have the game running, and tried many Proton versions now.
