How do you save?

Maybe I'm overlooking something really obvious, but I have no idea how to save this game. I've just lost two hours of progress because the autosave only saves at certain points (not when you win OR lose a quest) and the continue button brought me back to the very beginning of the chapter.

In the area where you control the main character, pressing the Y button will bring up the mission list page. At the bottom left, it says pressing the X button saves the game and pressing the Y button loads a save. You can save the game here by pressing the X button.
