Lost game save

I got up to nearly level 15 and logged in to level more for it to say new game and could not press continue so lost my saved game which I think had to do with the update that was done. Did this happen to everyone with saved games and is it worth restarting it as the same thing might happen and i have worked hard to level up for nothing, Dev said that is was worth leveling as when you get the full game you will have everything you done in the prologue. But then lost the game because of the update anyway.

Unfortunately, older save games are not compatible with this version. This happened when the project was converted into another game-engine version. This was necessary for optimization, especially for low-level systems.
Full game will be released next week (August 6th, 2024).
New save files will be compatible with the full game.

when the full game comes out next week how do we transfer our save file to the full game or will it automatically do that. Not sure how that works

You don't have to do anything. It'll work automatically.
