Obelisk room farming?

Found an old guide to farming. Has this been patched? I found an obelisk room with carrots and kobolds, but they dont drop any XP on death.

Not sure this was possible at any point: Enemies that can potentially be spawned undefinitely don't drop experience to prevent this.
