um...
Wand? Never runs out of ammo, and it's pretty good on some characters.
Real weapons, I dunno. What's mana-efficient and still gets stuff rekt? I'm tempted to say necro staff, but....
If you are looking for AOE power, I always seem to lean on the standard grenade. The one that just explodes and its secondary is four bombs or something. It is very useful on later floors when rooms are packed full of enemies to take advantage of its splash damage. The alchemy weapon that is a slow-moving infinitely piercing large orb of light is also very powerful.
If you are looking for burst damage to target priority enemies, I like to use the secondary attack of the fire spell. It is very powerful but has a long cooldown, so it is great for one-shotting priority enemies while running around to wait for its cooldown as you get to your next target.
If you are looking for longer range single-target sustained DPS, the rapid fire staff (eye of twilight?) is a pretty good option. It does wonders on obelisks as long as your mana can sustain its fire for long enough to destroy one.
Honorable mention is a spell that fires ring-looking things in a pulsing type of pattern that expand and contract their formation as they move. I've only seen it once so far, but when I got used to the distance from an enemy at which they would be contracted together when they reach my target, it seemed quite powerful.
Eye of Twilight is also good, so long as you have the mana to sustain it.
Undead Scepter deals lots of damage if you can afford to stand right in front of something (so that the entire spread hits one target).
There's a whole bunch of weapons that are pretty good if you have enough mana - even "utility" weapons like Lidless Eye or Enchanted Butterflies can wreck complete havoc if you can afford to cast them non-stop.
Gun Alchemy weapons are usually more mana consuming than the bombs but equally if not more powerful. The Dark gun seems, interesting if nothing else. The Anguish cannon is killer, a couple shots will kill most enemies, with enough damage buffs Ive managed to get it strong enough to 1 shot everything but bosses. The Magma cannon has a modest dps rate, the secondary fire is a wide spread thats handy against groups or if aimed low enough can really tear an oblisk appart. The Catapult of doom is rather janky, its secondary fire is technically it's primary, it seems to cost less mana but it shoots indivdual bolts in a crazy wide arc, somewhat unpredictable. The final is the Magma blaster?.. I get the two confused... there's another that looks alot like the magma cannon but it fires considerably stronger projectiles, and has a close cluster shot for its secondary.
Anquish cannon was also mentioned, key note on anquish - it can't damage you and continues through enemies until it hits the wall.
However, the 'best' weapon - for all trash - is hands down Archangel's Embrace. Now hear me out, cause at first I didn't like it either. It is a medium range vertical spread with no scatter. It does not reach far, but instead does a double fish hook left/right and sweeps back, giving it a perfect target first fire w/ an aoe backsweep.
BUT the REAL power comes from two effects - FREEZE which is a hard lockdown of the targets, which it does ALOT, and it PENETRATES all targets, unlike any other spell. Anguish has no debuff and is slow base RoF, Eye stops at a single target and the Solar does penetrate but also has a horrible rate of fire. Archangels has stopping power (literally as it can kill or freeze) AOE and a damage multiplier when enemies are swarming. Best weapon
