No levels need any lightning reflexes. It's all about finding the right solutions and manipulating the map to your advantage.

If you think you have found a solution and it requires lightning reflexes, there will always be another solution that is much easier to execute. Don't always stick with your first instinct.

I may never trust a walkthrough video again.
I can only conclude they were using the kind of program that slows the game down while you're playing and lets people make it look like they can fly pixel-tight circles around all the enemies and projectiles in Gradius when they upload the footage to youtube. Or maybe my reflexes just suck.
At least I managed to find the correct solution in the end.
