If you loved Buzz Aldrin's Race Into Space, you will love this game
This is like an updated version of what Buzz Aldrin's Race Into Space was like when it came out out 20 years ago. However, the game is updated and provides better animation and choices. I have been playing this game on early release for a year now, and it keeps getting better and better with every update.

This is the first of three parts of the game. Part two should cover space station development and the Shuttle, and part three will cover going to Mars. These games will be seperate purchases though (not included in this purchase). However, there is a ton of stuff in this first game.

The best part of the game is the Development Team. They actually listen to our suggestions and make changes. For example, based on feedback from the community, the game release was postponed in order to add a race between the Soviets and the Americans, just like the real space race. They also share news about the development, unlike most companies that keep evrything secret. It is so refreshing to see developers communicating with the people who actually play the games.

Please buy this game and support this great development Team :)

Yeah I really look forward to playing all three games linked up as one massive game sometime, where you can go from early space pioneering all the way through the shuttle to the ultimate goal of getting a human on Mars. That would be one almighty game.

Thanks for the kind words jjknap and for all the feedback you provided during the Early Access Program!

So this is essentially a remake of Buzz Aldrin's Race Into Space one of my favorite games of my youth? Sold! Wish I had known about this game earlier!

Wait so this is early access being released in episodes? That would be a purchase killer there, I dont buy EA games or games released in episode format.

The Early Access was conducted from October 2013 until now. The game we're releasing in three days is the full version, and it's the outcome of all the improvements we've been making based on the feedback we got from the early access.

So this version features all three parts?

No, this is just part 1. Parts 2 and 3 are seperate and will come later. Lots to do in part 1 though: Race to the Moon :)

Looks cool, just a bit disapointed you didn't work a bit more on animations, or simply added some real footages like on the the original game, it was more immersive imho. =)

Well you have to figure, you can win us old fans of BARIS over by just using old footage and letting us feel the nostalgia, but folks coming into this as a new experience might be put off if they feel like the developer phoned in the graphics. Maybe someone can make it a mod later.

The footage of the actual launches is very low quality in many cases and the game covers a host of what if's that never happened to give you more options and there is very limited footage of the soviet launches so it would either end up using repeated and wrong launch images. We felt this wasn't good enough so spent thousands of man hours producing what we think are gorgeous animations! We think its is much more immersive as it is, but everyone is free to have their own opinion! :)

You're right about the lack of videos. However there are some footages in decent quality now, like Apollo so, i hope the game will be moddable though (ie: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WZd_5H-n1po) !
I was just a bit sad about how some of the physics look, i mean, rockets take off like if they had no mass, astronauts are stiff, smoke isn't animated, background is totally fix. Some little details... Nothing about the drawing, which looks nice !

It's not really 'episodes', so I wouldn't get hung up on that. The post Apollo stuff and then a Mars mission just seemed to EA players like obvious places to take the game after full release of what is essentially a modernized BARIS, and presumably if it sold well enough. I'd guess post-Apollo might be an expansion and Mars a sequel, but I doubt even the devs know yet.

I love the graphics...the movies in BARIS were great, but the downfall was the accuracy in the missions they represented. I really like how the Mission Control screen is set-up now (I love seeing the little pictures change in the corner) :) This is a great update to BARIS. Can't wait to see what's ahead with space stations, the Shuttle and Mars :)

Just to be clear - there was an Early Access Program a year ago. It is now over and the result you have is the completed game which goes on sale today. This is NOT an Early Access Program!
