Reloading gunner weapon while in flight

Hello, I am doing something wrong here - not unusual as I am an eejit, I admit.

I am flying the He111 in MP, coming up to target and I am attacked by fighters. Don't want to lose my bearing on the target so I go to the rear gunner position and empty my gun at the pursuing fighter. He breaks off. Great! But there is another one.

I hit the 'reload' command. The handle on the MG15 goes back and forward. But it doesn't reload ammunition?

I look around the gunner position and there are about ten cannisters of ammo sitting there taunting me! But I can't reload them...

The only time I switch positions is to be able to see. Have not actually tried to operate the guns.

You figure this out yet? Is it a bug?

Using guns is easy enough, you Ctl C to the position you want, and then T to free the weapon and left shift T to lean into the gunsight, and aim and fire with the mouse. It's pretty cool.

But no, I can't work out how to reload. There is a reload key command which is left alt-R but it doesnt seem to do anything!
