IL-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Stalingrad

IL-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Stalingrad

Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 graphics card...worth it?
Will the new Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 graphics card give a noticeable improvement in how IL-2 Sturmovik runs compared to this game's performance with the card I currently run, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 card? I have a desktop setup, not VR, and have no intention of converting to VR just yet. I've no issues with how IL-2 runs with the older RTX 2070 card; just wondering if it'd be worth it to purchase the upgraded card if it'll make the current version and future IL-2 versions play better.
Any advice/insights, especially from the devs, would be much appreciated!

I guess it would give you 40-50% performance increase. The 5060 is sabout as fast as a 4060TI and you get DLSS4 which might be a benefit for other games.

I don't think it will affect playability much, I think the graphics engine holds the game back too much. you can probably already play on high or ultra graphics on that 2070?

Even Korea is expected to only need a 3060. Devs probably ought to push the boundaries a bit further!

Thats correct for 1080p. For 1440p or 4K the 2070 is a little anemic, to say the least.

true , i assumed OP was playing in 1080p. and i would imagine the 5060 prob won't do 1440p or 4k very well either. although this game so old and doesnt use much VRAM so maybe!
4K max settings on my 4090 *specs in profile* on "Normandy" during invasion, my fps will tank from 120 (locked) to about 50 fps. There is so much going on, so much AAA fire and flak it does take a punishing hit. I do have a beast of a PC and any other map/mode or flight always exhibits 120fps. Tested with both Allies and Axis views. However, that usually is on quick flight, campaign has about the same.
The game is very CPU limited because it's running on an ancient engine by today's standards, a new GPU won't do you any good for this game. The best upgrade towards running this game as well as it can be run would be a CPU with a very good single core performance, but even then it may tank due to engine limitations when the map gets really busy.

OK, thx for all the comments. I suspected that the latest & greatest from Nvidia wouldn't make that much improvement to this game, so if I upgrade I'll probably go with their 3000 or 4000 series, save myself some coin and eagerly look forward to Korea!
