No enemy's in career mode Normandy
I did a little searching online n found out this has been an issue for months. What is the deal with 0 enemy forces spawning in these missions? I've run 3 missions so far cross the English channel for 20 minutes to find there aren't any enemy forces that have spawned in. It's not just one mission either is 3 in a row now. N in seeing posts from 9 months ago starting the same issue. Is there a fix side from downloading 3rd party mission generator?

i think the explanation given in the past was that because this is late war and allied forces had air supremacy therefore there are far fewer German planes in the air. a case of historical accuracy killing the gameplay. i thought they had patched it a bit but from what you're saying sounds like not

Three missions in a row without contact is no big deal. You can get that in Moscow as well.

also i think the devs did something whereby the game spawns enemies at random locations, rather than on your mission flightpath, so it could be you are flying a free hunt mission for example and you encounter no enemies because the game has spawned them somewhere else on the map.

For Korea at least it sounds like they are working on something a little more focused for career mode that hopefully avoids this kind of thing, cos yeah we dont all have time to just enjoy flying around a map doing immersion, we can buy MSFS for that.

I think it's intentional.

A career mode that the player wins can be 60-100 missions long without the pilot dying. If there's combat in all of those missions the player probably doesn't have a chance. So there's a fair number of missions without contact.

It's also dependant on the characteristics of the chapter that you're on and the squadron you're with. In Moscow/Stalingrad you have chapters that are fairly quiet followed by chapters that are absolutely brutal.

If you're in the correct frame of mind - you're trying to survive until the end of the chapter or the end of the battle - those easy missions will actually make you happy and you sit back and enjoy the scenery and just fly.

I've had long stretches in both Stalingrad/Moscow in fighter squadrons without combat.

I play with the little indicators that make aircraft and land forces easily visible within 10 km. A lot of times I'll see planes in the distance doing their own missions and not bothering with my squadron. If you're playing with those tips off, you may not be spotting planes that are fairly nearby but that are there.

======
They should perhaps have had another style of career that advances more quickly and that has a much higher chance of combat for people who absolutely want to get into a scrap every time.

That seems to be what people are saying i just find it a little odd. I was expecting action packed missions similar to dcs beware beware campaign and ended up with the most exciting part being the take off. Just disappointing. Doesn't seem like they've been able to balance historical accuracy vs fun gameplay. I understand that there were many sorties where there may have been no combat but that doesn't make for interesting/ fun gameplay.

You guys wouldn't happen to know the name of the mod that's a campaign generator would you? I've seen people talk about it but not sure how to find it.

It's Pat Wilson Campaign Generator (PWCG).

For me, the most exciting part of those quiet missions is when I'm in enemy territory wondering if we're going to get intercepted or not, just scanning the sky like crazy hoping we can get back to friendly lines. It's pretty nervewracking even though there might not be any shots fired.

Would switching to the German side maybe result in more action? Lots of "shooting down bombers" missions I imagine.

May I suggest, if your computer can handle it, that you increase your speed/time 2X or 4X to shorten that 20 minute flight to nowhere.
And, if you really want to die amidst a swarm of enemy, just fly at Stalingrad or Kuban. I've been trying to survive for 5 years but have yet to complete a career due to AA, fatal slips of the mind and carelessness, and NOW the Soviet DC-3 dead-eye "richard" rear gunner.

i think the best way to get the most out of this game on any particular map is to run multiple careers simultaneously of various plane types (fighter, bomber, ground attack, multi-role), set yourself up as the commanding officer from the start in each career, that way you can choose which missions you fly and avoid the ones that aren't worth the effort. also in Options, you can move any of the careers forward at medium or rapid speed.

In this way you dont get bogged down in too much repetition, or no-action missions, and can enjoy the full range of features the game has to offer.
I'm still trying to figure out how the 'OPTIONS' settings effect gameplay, but recently setting them to 'Enemy Superiority' and 'Numerous' *seemed* to make a difference. Also, setting your map to show enemy [red] icons, may help you to notice bad guys that you didn't notice before.
I'm currently 'flying' P-47 missions from England to D-Day-land shortly after June 6, 1944, and my squadron gets klobbered every time.
You may also consider transferring, or trying a whole 'nother career.

yeah unfortunately if u set to enemy superiority you prob end up suffering hard because AI enemy will 1-shot you whilst your AI wingmen won't help you out much.

Awesome thank you! I'll have to give that a go. Seen alot of people use it, seems like that's the go to mod for campaign stuff.
