All three Flying Circus volumes use the same map. The map evolved during development of FC2 and FC3. All three also use the same career; however each volume focuses on a specific phase of the war. Without getting into specific months/years, FC1 is mid-war, FC2 is late war to the Aristance; and FC3 is early war.
Personally, I like FC2 the best because it has American squadrons. FC1+FC2 work really well together. I don't own FC3 though. I recommend you wait for a sale, when FC1 and FC2 together costs only about $50 total.
