Quest 2 vs HP Reverb G2
So i already HAVE a Quest 2 and its completely okay for flight sims, but the battery thing is annoying and i hear that the G2 is just better with a clearer image, but more importantly higher FOV.

Do any of you have experience with both? Do you think its worth it or a waste to get a G2 if i already have a Q2?

Check the Pico 4 much clearer View. The G2 has a higher FOV maybe but in the end its rly Blurry outside the Sweatspots, while the Pico 4 has like a Full Sweatspot to all Places and Prices the same or Cheaper.

I upgraded from Oculus Rift S and I now have three Reverb G2 units ...

- Unit one is an original pre-order model. I put off using it for a year because it was stuttery compared to Rift S. November 2021 Open XR updates along with tweaking my Windows settings fixed that. I was happy for six months, until my headset started blacking out whenever I turned my head to the right and looked at my wing in any flight sim. Buying the v2 link cable did not solve the problem.

- Unit two: I bought it used off of eBay. It is also a first-generation headset. It came with an after-market v2 cable. Same blackout problem as my original unit. The only solution I've found is to sit facing 90-degrees left away from my keyboard. Other than this quirk, I am happy with both of my first generation Reverb G2s.

- Unit three: I bought it on sale during Labor Day 2022 hoping that the second generation headset would solve the blackout quirk. It did not fix the issue. Worse though, the display went bad after one month with lines appearing through the image on one eye and sometimes both. I salvaged the face gasket and the power cable and I've been using my eBay headset since. BTW, I see no noticeable FOV improvement between the first and second generation sets despite the redesigned face gasket.

My experiences with the first vs. second generation Reverb G2 headsets may be atypical. However, it does make me reluctant to recommend the Gen 2 model.

Sucks that you have had such bad experiences with the Reverb, Shadowgravy.

OTOH, I bought my G2 from a friend who had replaced his cable and I've got nothing but good to say about. Solid and trouble-free.
Ah yeah, i have the blackout thing on my Quest 2 too. If i use my eyebrows to lift the headset into place after its slid down (lol), it often blacks out for a second or two.

Got the Reverb G2 more then a year now and still enjoying it very well.
I did make use of a couple tireps on the left site to the back side for a stronger cable guidence.
I aslso made cable managament via the ceiling with cable holders.

Only thing i want to see as an improvement is a wider fov and better overall sweeetspot.

The screens, sound and FOV are better on the Reverb, but be warned if you're a glasses wearer. The glasses spacer that comes with it pushes your eyes back out of the sweet spot for the lenses, regardless of your IPD setting. As a result, only what's straight ahead will be in focus. The periphery will be blurry.

If you decide to go for it make sure you get the G2 version 2, released early this year or late last year. It's got some QoL improvements over the v1.

This was the single best thing I did after I got VR:

Being able to take my glasses off and see clearly for the first time in 50 years has been an amazing experience, and the heat factor is reduced dramatically.
My glasses don't fit in the Quest 2 either, thankfully i'm the "can't see things far away" type of blind, hehe.

Not experience with a reverb, but experience on quest 2 vs index. Honestly if you have a wireless headset I don't see why you'd ever want to go back to wired. Bought the quest 2 for someone else and set it up, if I hadn't told them I was giving them the quest I would have probably given them the index :D

As an aside if you want FOV you might want to look at Pimax. FOV is kind of thier brand's shtick.
