Why not show the Swastika on the German planes?
This game looks amazing and I enjoy realistic games. Is this an issue becasue it might offend someone? Should the red star be removed from the soviet planes because Stalin killed millions of his own people? It just looks stupid and it bothers me. Not looking to start a fight and constructive responses are welcome. And yes, Im going to buy this game

You are definitly right, in my opinion though. So the Swastika represents the Nazis, so?
This is a simulator so it should display things like they were back then, including the Swastika.
It is like denying the Nazis, while making a game where they play a big part.

VERY old argument. Short answer, it is ILLEGAL in several countries to show the swastika in game. Excluding entire countries just to paint a swastika on a digital aiprlane seems silly. Not to mention the absolute IMMENSE amount of revenue lost from said country.

So just don't show them in those countries.

Those countries are hiding under a rock in my opinion. Its the past and the swastika was here well before the nazis adopted it. I understand that this studio would lose a large amount of revenue from those countries and that makes sense that they chose to alter the symbol. The rebel flag ( confederate states of america ) is associated with hate and slavery, but you are free to show it if you want too. Its our history, along with the nazis, and we should not try to pretend that it did not happen.

Those endless swastika debates leads us nowhere.
It´s forbidden in several countrys and thats simply the reason it´s not included. No gamebraker after all to me , though I would like to see those historical markings on Luftwaffe AC´s.
But it´s not going to happen and so be it. We know the deal. Its not like it is a new "problem"

I see no point in these types of questions/arguments, and im surprised no one mentioned the obvious solution yet: user mods. Anyone with ANY knowledge about modding your games should know by now that in every single sim in the past, user mods are always available to enable the swastikas. Just give it a little time for the final release, and you should see it soon enough

Not everyone lives in a country like America where you can openly display such symbols in a video game. Just the reality of the market. There will be opportunities to have custom paint-jobs that you can wear that have the swastika for history sake. There is also no technical way for us to remove it from some people's computers and not others. We also, as a company do not want to glorify or seemly to endorse the horrible nature and history of the Nazi movement. So we leave it up the user in the form of a mod, when that becomes possible.

Jason,

Thank you for your response. You stated " as a company do not want to glorify or seemly to endorse the horrible nature and history of the Nazi movement". What about about Stalins horrible nature and history of his own people? get rid of the red star as well as the swastika. Cant do that? Let the game be real, symbols and all

There are no countries that I am aware of that prohibits the Russian red star. If we were to somehow enable the swastika in countries that forbade it, it would appear that we love Nazis. We don't and we respect the laws of those countries. We also respect nations that allow it and you can simply paint one on if you wish.

This topic comes up quite regularly. No one loves history more than we do, but the market is the market and it issues like this can get complicated. We try to keep things simple.
