Best VR headset for this game?
I have il-2 but about a year ago i sold my rift 2 and haven't played this since as I can't play without VR, it's not even close. Are there any VR headsets that have great clarity for this game to be enjoyed, how about the reverb g2?

I pre-ordered the Reverb G2 hoping it would live up to the hype and replace my Rift S. I received an early production model in November and by Christmas I had gone back to Rift S. The G2 is sharper and has better clarity but is a PITA to use and I get edge distortion if I don't set the face gasket against my eyes just right. Most importantly I get better frames in my Rift S than I do with G2 even with IL-2 game settings set to a lower quality than I use with the Rift S. The G2 is wonderful in Half Life Alex and civil flight sims though.
G2 seems like one of the best choices for pure sim play from a pure resolution standpoint, but people i talked to say that you need kind of a monster machine to run sim games at decent graphics setting with it, can be kinda buggy and that it's pretty bad when you want to play "proper" VR games. Also its almost twice the price of the Quest 2, but only about 20% higher resolution.
Hopefully someone comes in with some hands on experience.

I only have the first Rift atm, but i can comment on the Quest 2 after the weekend probably, supposed to arrive on Friday.

I play with a Quest 2. I run a borderline potato system (GTX 980ti) and I can tweak the graphics to very nice levels while keeping decent framerates. No SDE and very decent FoV. The advantages of the Q2 are well-known. Extremely easy to set up (only one USB 3 connected to the PC, no need for external tracking, portable) and relatively cheap. I also have the original Rift and the Q2 is leaps and bounds better.

There are comparison videos on YouTube. See which has what you need.

From what I've seen, I'm hoping to get a Rift-S.

The G2 has awesome screens, is comfortable, fantastic audio, has cheap feeling, lousy tracking controllers and needs a beast of a pc to run in it's full glory, expensive. The RiftS/Quest needs facecrap. So yeah not ideal right now for vr users... do your research.

For a sit down sim experience where you don't use hand tracking like IL2 , the Reverb G2 is really good. (what I'm using)
* Light setup (no external camera, easy instalation)
* Comfortable unless you have a large head (I've spent hundreds of hours with it as I only play IL2 in VR)
* Superb display renders every details with no screen door effect at all
* No strings attached with Facebook like the Quest 2.

The drawback of the G2 are
* Not cheap compared to an oculus quest
* High resolution = you need a good computer to get the max out of it
* Hand tracking in other VR games can be frustrating : it's good in front of you but there are too many blindspots.

I use Pimax 5k XR, because nothing is better than like 200+ FOV and OLED in flight sims. Granted you need a really beefy computer to run a pimax headset cause they are literally top tier grade VR, above the steam index.

complete AMD build, 3900X CPU 5700XT nitro+ GPU 1tb NVME drive, 3 SSD drives, 5 HDD drives for storage.

All liquid cooled with my own cooling setup using 3 rads. I can run IL2 BoS on full graphics no issues, however I do plan on upgrading to the 6900xt nitro+ once it isn't overpriced or I can pre-order one at MSRP.
