ROF vs Flying Circus, which is better?
I just started trying out ROF and learning to fly biplanes. I haven't bought any yet, just using the one freebee plane so far but then I was looking at wondering if it is the better deal since it seems like you get a decent number of planes for the price however, seems that ROF has many more biplanes to choose from. I'm not sure which way to go. Anyone have suggestions on which is better?

Major Problem Oct 9, 2021 @ 7:10am
I would shoot for Flying Circus 2, which is being developed right now. It will come with a career mode and Advanced Quick mission builder for lots of SP content. Flying Circus 1 does not have career mode, but there are two free scripted campaigns for it.

opposing view.

I rather like FC1. I never really got on with RoF and FC, although not busting with content is fun.

add user missions and external app missions and it's super.

I also prefer the il2 engine and how it's evolving and essentially VR support.

Okay thank you guys for the input. Strange how FC2 doesn't seem to be available on Steam. I suppose I can always just buy any planes I want from ROC that I want and are not available for the Great Battle series too.

I think fc2 isn't fully finished, they only release completed stuff on Steam.

FC2 is in Early Access at the il2sturmvovik.com website. With EA you get access to the aircraft and the map as they are completed. FC2 will become available on Steam when the project is fully completed.

Well for now i can tell you ROF is way more worth, more planes, maps, factions, it's cheaper (with sales of course 😁) and a carrer mod.
For now FC is more a graphic update, i wait to get it.

If VR: FC1&2
If no VR: RoF

RoF DLC is dirt cheap on sale, and has way more content. It's basically same quality as a WW1 Il-2 BoS but lack of VR makes me never play it.

I don't have VR and don't plan getting a headset for a while so I don't mind that part. The difference with the graphics is noticeable but not drastic to me so I don't mind that part so much.
Bear in mind RoFis essentially "dead" and afaik will not be furthered whereas il2 is actively under development.
Why not try FC since you've already tried ROF?
If you don't like one, refund it.
Spend your time on aspects that are important to YOU so you don't waste your 2 hours.

I prefer ROF.
an idea but I'm not sure using the Steam refund option in this way is the best way forward.

RoF
-> Cheaper ( even more when you buy on sale )
-> more Planes
-> Handmade Campaigns

BTW When you buy FC for $20 on sale, buy it. The main reason for FC to buy is VR!

If it's just about updates, ROF is not dead, it's Finished, it's not the same. But yes if you want to go on PvP, i don't play on multi but yep i heard there's nobody.

yeah, I felt wrong using the term "dead", rather its done but not evolving/growing in any major way :)
