Get BoS here and then that way you can pickup anything else either from the devs direct or here and seamlessly combine them into one big sandbox.
Me? Id get (after BoS) anything with a plane set that appeals. Kuban is a good second choice due to the differing aircraft and Map.
Other than that, its really down to personal coice.

IMO a second "Battle of..." pack is money better spent than getting ALL of the DLCs above. Battle of Bodenplatte is popular because it is set in Western Europe, and it includes the P-51D, Spitfire Mk.IX, P-47D Thunderbolt, Tempest Mk.V as well as the Me 262, Fw 190 A-8, Bf 109 K-4 and Bf 109 G-14. You can buy the P-38J and Fw 190 D-9 as optional Collector Plane DLCs.
I also recommend Battle of Kuban. It has the most dynamic and visually interesting terrain, and it is a great map for Quick Mission battles. Its A-20B light bomber can be used in a Stalingrad career as well.
"Blazing Steppe" and "Fortess on the Volga" are scripted campaigns for Battle of Stalingrad aircraft. Each tells a pilot's story through about a dozen missions. The action is more controlled than in the career missions and you get a narrative, but otherwise the missions are not significantly different than in career.
Tank Crew is armored vehicle warfare, designed for multiplayer. If you want to operate a tank from a crew position this might be of interest to you.
Flying Circus Vol. 1 is World War One aircraft. It was also designed primarily for multiplayer but there are now two scripted campaigns included, and development of Vol. 2 will add a career mode for it. It's fun in VR.
I'm on the edge because I also want to buy more =P.
Though I read in the comments on another thread that playing career mode (which is the main reason why I'm interested in this game) is painful because you need to wait like 30 minutes flying to even encounter the enemy because of a problem with the time compression system. O.O
I know we're going for the "more simulator" path, but... that much? O.O
(Or it was just a way of saying, like me playing world of tanks in a T95 and saying it'll take me 3 years to reach the other side of the map?). =P
Please tell me is a way of saying and not that you really have nothing to do in 30 minutes except looking O.O
I gave up on the Bodenplatte P-47 career (despite loving Thunderbolts) partly because of the long routes to target. But I'm really enjoying the "Hell Hawks Over the Bulge" scripted campaign from il2sturmovik.com. The missions are shorter and it has immersive custom radio chatter. I also really enjoyed the "Achtung Spitfire!" scripted campaign for the Spitfire Mk.Vb on Kuban. And "Blazing Steppes"/"Fortress on the Volga" are both pretty good for short, punchy missions that get you into combat quickly. In one of the missions you have to get your Bf 109 airborne while the airfield is under attack--it doesn't any quicker than that. And there are several free campaigns listed at the developer's official forum[forum.il2sturmovik.com]. Several can be downloaded from Mission4Today[www.mission4today.com]. So there is that as a solution.
Personally I've found VR makes the flying aspect a lot more enjoyable than back when I only flew using pancake view on a monitor. I have a lot more patience with the minutiae because now I can enjoy the scenery while I'm cruising along or circling in a landing pattern.
be aware that some missions are *just* flying.
But seriously... Cliffs of Dover Blitz Edition IS the Battle of Britain.
Some of us prefer a game upgrade and Kuban is great when using Zero skins, just because you have no imagination dont assume others dont either, silly man
