IL-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Stalingrad

IL-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Stalingrad

Mel 1 ENE 2021 a las 13:10
Where to download and install real skin mods for il 2 sturmovik?
As the title says, where can I download real skins for airplanes? in the case of the German planes with the swastika (not Nazi, I just like realism and the real planes had the swastika, it is history and history is facts, there is no denying)

Inside the game there is an option that says activate mods, I don't know if that option has to be activated.

Where can I find the historical skins for airplanes, and how are they installed?

Thanks in advance.

For the flag, rename the file "image.big" to flag.big

It is located in: swf\il2\countries\201

There's links to what you are looking for on the Il2 forum section of the website.

Thanks for your answer, I just downloaded, I have installed it as the folders appear, and the custom skins do not appear within the game

Have you selected Mods Enabled in settings?

Yes, I have the skins and mods box enabled within the game

In the link above when downloading the mods, there are several folders that I am going to list:

one of them is data / graphics / planes and inside a whole list of planes with the textures folder.

the other folder is data / graphics / skins and inside a list of planes with textures

and the last folder is data / SWF / il2 / worldobjects / planes list of planes with some skins

I haven't used these so I'm downloading to check them out.

The skins in the first download link are 2K and they won't appear in the game if you have the use 4K skins feature enabled in your settings.

thanks for downloading the mod to see, the link was put by the other user. I have to deactivate the 4k option in the game, right? and the folders?

Which one do I copy and paste?

1: data / graphics / planes and inside a whole list of planes with the textures folder.

2: the other folder is data / graphics / skins and inside a list of planes with textures

3: the last folder is data / SWF / il2 / worldobjects / planes list of planes with some skins

P.S. I am installing the mods manually

I do not have 4K enabled because I only fly in VR and the original 2K textures help me get better performance. That said, the mod works for me.

I copied all of the folders in the mod's Data folder over to the game's Data folder. I did not copy the Documentation folder over to the game folder.

These textures only replace the default German skins found in Battle of Stalingrad, Battle of Moscow and Battle of Kuban. You should see the difference when if you select for example the Bf 109 E7 in Quick Mission.

I am going to try, to see if it works, I am interested in the histories that are at normal resolution, I am not interested in 4k (I say it because of the performance) I have searched in the il2 forum how to manually install skins and there is no exact info

now it works, you downloaded the mod to see it and tried it right? in some it is in custom and the others replace the official skins, I thought that in custom there would be a dropdown with the custom skins, by the way the SWF folder with the worldobjects content for what is it? I have not installed it

The first download link in the forum thread are for 2K (normal resolution) textures. All of the other links in the thread after that are for 4K textures.

When you first start IL-2, are you seeing the red box at the bottom of the main menu that says Mods Enabled?

Did you accidentally put the entire Data folder inside the game's Data folder instead of merging the contents? You don't want it to read "...Data/data/graphics/..." for example. It needs to be:
...\Steam\steamapps\common\IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad\data\graphics\Planes\...

In other words, there shouldn't be a second Data folder inside your game's Data folder.

now it's okay, I'm manually installing each livery, one by one, by what I'm telling you, the SWF folder with the wordobjects, does it have to be installed? I don't know what it's for

The SWF folder is preview icons of the aircraft for Quick Mission.

I just downloaded that one also. Transfer the contents of swf\il2 into your game's Data\swf\il2 folder.

I don't have a German career in progress to test it though.

Edit: yes it works.

NavySeal,
I just downloaded and tested the 4K Bodenplatte replacement textures pack and they work great in "standard" mode.

So do Milktoast's "Bf 109 G-6 Late" 4K textures on Page 7.
