Tank Questions

I got Tank Crew for my birthday and while driving the Tiger, some questions and concerns came up. For the tanks I like to set the WSAD keys to drive. Mouse wheel to zoom, standard stuff really. However, when I am the driver of a tank, and I scroll with mouse wheel, and I am in the F1 view, I can no longer move? No forward or backwards, nothing, all controls work for anything else, but I can no longer move.

This also has happened even when I didnt have Tank Crew. Its like the driving controls went away. I try to go to F2 view, start stop engine, switch to gunner, etc. I am literally stuck. Kinda lame, especially when I want to be driver and have F1 view. Kinda takes the realism away when I have to switch to an outside view just to drive.

Also, when I am actually the driver, whats with all the scopes and mirrors and what not, that dont do anything. The Tiger has this scope that I cant look out of, some mirror of the left thats useless. Is there a secret control that Im missing here? Any help is appreciated.

Well it is still in development so they say, but I agree with you on the controls issue, I find everything extremely clunky at this point. As far as the Tank part of IL2 goes I'm not real impressed at this point at all. Not for the money it cost. Sorry not an answer but more of an opinion.

Do you have your driver turned out while in F1 view? In the Tiger you can't drive the tank while the driver is looking out the hatch (turned out). This is historically accurate as the controls are not reachable from this position.

When you switch to external view (F2) you are not technically playing the role of any crew member. The game controls switch to a generic "drive the tank" mode.

love the tank add on..question, in the setting/keymappings i see a lot of "visor" controls and adjustments.but have no idea what those do or are supposed to do, any help appreciated!

I set my tank controls ...left/right...accel/decel..to my joystick as well as many well most other commands..a few on the keyboard as well.use the joystick if you can..it makes the controls much easier and intuitive

Same thing happened to me; the only workaround I could find during the game was to 'waddle' the tank with A and D and then switch to gunner view before everything seized up again

He showed me the orange looking square in the controls, that said something else was bound to it. Hope this helps anyone else who drives the tanks with WASD.

Bumping this for accuracy; tested it out myself after remapping the autopilot key and it seemed to get the job done. I know that tanks have a long way to go in this game, but man do things like this make it feel clunky. At least it's a simple enough fix, though
