AI cheats clearly
ok i just restarted il2 bos and flying career mode and its realy frustrating. not because of the mode more of the ai. i like to put a little role play in my playtrough and its impossibel to do, when your squad mates are flying 50-100 km/h faster to your target while struggling to not burn of your engine (running with just 25% fuelload and no bomb annd ai has 250 bomb....) to keep up or a i16 suddenly has a climbrate of a g2 109 while you bommend and zoomend him and he gets you in a climb game at 7km altitude in a 109 f2. some thing is ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up wrong here am i the only one getting this BS. PS: its only AI games that i have such issues

I must do something wrong because its seldom a problem to keep up with the AI.
Do you use trim?

thx for the vids i know them and use those advices in multiplayer my issue is that maneveurs that should be in a bf109 favour in the game gets wrecked by ai i16 or even sturmoviks. i boom and zoom only with 109 but i still get in situations that when i attack at 3km hight a target at 1.5k and zoom out because bad aiming hes still alive. this guy stills wrecks me when he follows me to 3k hight when i think he should be burned out by now but still outclimbs me on any angle and is faster. or when i take off with my ai buddies in f2 without bomb and minimal fuel to get to target area they still outrun me so far that i losethem after 1.5 mins of ata 1.4 or 1.2 combat mode flying on my part. i even just run 1.4 on f2 with 10% fuel and no bombs till my engine burned out. i still lost sight of them...
it only happens on career medium, settings( custom means: expert settings plus no map markers ). and only the ai does that ♥♥♥♥ friendly and foe

this ♥♥♥♥ destroys the immersion when you always take off and your buddies flying of and next time you meet the they are all dead or did mission alrready.

I hate to say it, but practice, practice, practice!

I was always losing my wingmates and ocasionally lag behind them, but now I know how to (almost) handle my plane, its much easier to catch up if I do lag behind.

try a corkscrew climb.
No enemy should be able to follow.
use your roll rate with rudder.
use rudder often together with roll

On the highest difficulty level, enemy AI aiplanes have overpowered engines. On the other hand, your wingmen don't seem to suffer from hot engines when they rejoin bombers for an escort mission. I suggest more fuel. The AI behavior is mostly boring I must say.

I have played maybe 60 hrs of rof il21946 and clod blitz,and216 hrs BOS all single player. The ai behaves the same in them all out turns you out climbs you,and never runs out of ammo.I play on moderate settings with 4 boxes ticked in custom settings. It's no big deal having the ai streak ahead as there hopless at shooting anything down, and if you get there a little behind you can pick of enemys that are engaging them.also just because it says mission critical return home dosn't mean you have to.the way i see it is that if the developers allow ai planes to take massive damage and still outrun you, while your motor cooks up trying to catch them, then its time to tick the engine management box in settings and level the playing field.multiplayer is the only way to get an even contest.having said that shooting down planes is what its all about and in my 216 hrs ive been shot down maybe 8 times,so the ai s advantages dont account for much,in my current carere bf109f4 3/4 through i have 750 kills,of course in real life impossible.ITs the ai again,if a yak can be hit with multiple cannon rounds have black soot pouring from it to the point where you have to re engage three more times before it goes down and your out of ammo and have to fly around for 20 minuets defenceless..then its time to tick the box unlimited ammo.now some would say thats cheating, but isnt that what the ai does.after all its still your piloting skills that get you in position for the kill shot. And finally its a superb game.it don,t get much better when your engaging six lagg5 low on fuel damaged on your own manage to shoot them all down and have your fuel run out on landing approach..

Hm, on topic of 109 wingmen outrunning you: Are you keeping your sideslip indicator centered with the rudder? That costs some speed. In my experience I had no trouble whatsoever keeping up.
I might also add that the ai does in fact not cheat. The only thing it does well is aim but thats about it. If you come from mp and fight ai you font get much of a challenge if at all.

As OrLoK has said, practice ^^.

Not true, AI cheats. Try to maintain a BF109-f4 at 475 km/h at a 1000 m with full fuel and a 250kg bomb while having lower than 65% of throttle... AI can but you can't. I agree than on 1 vs 1 it is easy to kill but the AI engines are overpowered, nonetheless.
