Career mode is insanely boring
The sheer amount of distance you have to traverse to even get to the action is insane.

Yeah I get it it's a "Flight sim" not a "shooter sim". But where is the fun in doing some fancy flying for like 10 min, then getting bored and using auto pilot to traverse 50km to get to the action.

even speeding up time to the max still takes FOREVER. Am I playing wrong or something?

Some of the missions are rather long and boring but you don't have to play by the rules. Break off and destroy some stuff lol I've done a few missions were I've struggled to get one kill whilst going by the book and following the pointers. Last night I ignored the pointers in one particular mission and broke of from my flight, which meant I arrived at the target early and tore up the enemy, shot 9 planes down and returned to base with ammo to spare. If you go mooching, you will find the rewards and the medals and if you find yourself outnumbered it will teach you to fight better or run and hide :steamhappy:

try to start the career as squadron leader.
Then you can drag and drop the waypoints on the map and drag them near to the target point.
And choose air start.
Then you must only fly 10 km.
Unfortunately this doesnt work with escort missions, because there are only the 3 standart waypoints, but than you can replace yourself with an AI pilot if you dont want to fly it!
Now you have a career with short flights

Wow, I didn't know moving the waypoints was even a thing. I've only managed to get Leader status once so far in various career modes, but next time I get it I'll be trying that out myself :steamhappy: Cheers :bf109:

yes you can move the waypoints and click on the description for the waypoint and change
flight altitude and formation if you wish

Don't start the career off at an airfield that's 50km from the front lines.

I dont think the career mode is that bad..its sometimes the idiotic Ai that lets it down,i really hope the Devs are seriously thinking about putting some work into "fixing" some of the Ai issues

the devs are constantly tweaking and looking at ways to improve things.

Don't forget it's a tiny team with a narrow budget.

look how the game's improved since release.

the devs are flight fans too but have to juggle things to stay afloat and give a superior experience.

it's not perfect but it's always improving! ;)

Thats kinda the issue though now they are just churning out Bodenplatte and their other huge lineup of games which suggests with a studio that small they are just going to ditch BOK and leave career mode as the mess it is right now. I hope I'm wrong but I'm starting to get rather worried that they went racing on to their next big release without providing well really ANY support to BOK post release.

you are wrong I'm afraid ;)

no resources are being "moved away"

it's all one game.

any new releases exist in the same game you own and any benefits apply to your game too.

so if you own BoS and then for Bodenplatte the devs add new fixes or changes then all the benefits are added for everyone who owns any module.

it's a really good system for all owners.

also, the guys who work on the campaign won't be the modeller creating new planes or assets nor map creators.

indeed, every new module they release shows that production is going well and that they cam finance a new release.

development is not cheap.

tldr: everything is cool. worry not.

It just all seems too ambitious though having Bodenplatte, flying circus, tank crews, and BOK. For a studio of this size with a playerbase of this size. Even Gaijiin struggled to get tanks intregrated in War Thunder and they had a heck of a lot more funding. Seems more like something the IL-2 devs should be trying to do over the next 10 years not this 1-2 year span they are aiming for. I honestly don't think they have the ability to juggle so many things.

but by what actual facts?

one cannot compare WT to Box other than they're about planes.

their engine, set up, priorites are vastly different to the BoX guys m gals.

if you follow development youll know that they've outsourced much to external associate's so they can concentrate on the key values of the project.

they've been incredibly upfront about any issues so far, I don't see that changing.

yes, disaster could strike but there's no negative indicators so far.

I think one challenge the face is getting the jet aircraft in properly to the standards they want..

but again I'm not worried.

Two sister studios working on Tank Crew and Flying Circus while 1c/777 main focus is on il2 BoX titles.
Maybe overall development is a bit slowed down till new studios catch the ropes of new engine, but that shouldn't last long.
Increasing manpower and hiring new studios is quite opposite than worrying in my opinion.
