Yes you have to configure everything manually which is a real pain, especially when you have no experience with these types of games.
You need to calibrate your joystick, rotation on the joystick (if you don't have the pedals) and the throttle.
Here is a video for sensitivity setup.

Here is a picture of Sheriff's controls. I was surprised how close his controls mirror mine. lol

Either way, it is going to take days and weeks to get a basic set up made that is right for you. Then it will take months to finely tune it for your individual adjustments. Basically adjusting the settings is a forever on going thing. I have spent many many hours fine tuning controls and I still adjust them often. I suggest to fine tune the controls to the aircraft you fly most.
(be sure to keep backup files saved of your controls! it would be nightmare to lose them)
I have the thrustmaster FCS hotas. So 1600m joystick, twcs throttle, and matching pedals. It has taken me the better part of three years to FINALLY get the controls in a state which I can confidently use them effectively.
Thanks for your post, you are right i didnt use target, what a mess that was.
Im not a fan of adjusting my controls for years on, id rather have them out of the box and get used to what they gave me. They could of added a config file, that users could share or download to help out, or add a configuration tutorial where you would map they Keys needed with the help of the pc...
I wish i would of known that before investing in this game though, thats a mistake on my part for not informing myself better.
Just one of the many issues hidden behind shiny new planes. Sadly, that is how it goes. (read my iL-2 review if you would like to see my thoughts)
But anyway, the default settings of the controls are very sensitive and the plane controls are very touchy yet not touchy. So finding the balance that works for an individual person is the most time consuming part. Others find the decent enough settings fairly quickly and for others like me it takes longer.
I took the time to read your review and wow, I am blown away by how they took your keys and didnt even help you out. Even the dev's message at the bottom shows he didnt read the whole thing. Damn that sucks, I feel for you man, let me just say i won't be buying anything else from them.
Ya I need to adjust sensibility and all but this game actually made me go back to elite dangerous, I have about 45min/1h of playtime when i get home, id rather play than waste time configuring my controls, so this game will be uninstalled soon enough.
Anyways thanks for the help man !
Im left handed, so in almost every game the first thing i do is go to options and configure the keys i want to use.
It is really that hard to configure some buttons?
In Elite dangerous you have more buttons than in this game required to fly Oo
Put it this way, its not only the control issues but more the steep learning curve that puts me off right now. The difference with Elite is the controls worked right of the bat and I took the time to learn it years ago, so yes when I have but an hour to play id rather go with that.
It doesnt mean I don't like this game or badmouth it, just that I feel like this game needs me to dedicate more than 1h in the evening to get it all setup, I don't have that spare time right now but will be sure to check it out when I do.
I hope you do, it would be great to catch you on a few flights during the weekend.
What i did was print it out then what ever keys you use the most bind them to your stick this is dependant on which ever aircraft you chose
Lots of information and helpful people in the forums

Thanks zippy, I'll check it out and give it another go this weekend if I can, I mean it does look really fun once you get the hang of it.
that would be great, but right now I feel like id be a burden more than anything :)
Do not feel that way. You would be surprised the amount of people who would be willing to help you get going.
