Pacific Theater ?
I know that IL2 1946 has a pacific theater and im wondering when or even if that will return? I'd love to play more of this game but carrier operations are what i prefer to do.

I think they will do it after Battle of Bodenplatte is finished.

This is just what i've gathered, I'm not 100% up to date on where the devs stand, but as far as I know, they've expressed serious interest in the pacific theatre but have to put it on the backburner for some lack of documentation and flight info on Japanese aircraft. This is just off the top of my head so I could be wrong in some places.

we do have a bit of data on a lot of the Japanese planes, however a lot of the late war stuff we do not considering they outright stopped putting serial numbers on their aircraft and are actually illegal to fly at the moment due to the lack of ability to register them not to mention they like the american warbirds are not a approved design under current saftey regulations with the acception of already registered warbirds meaning serialized which were grandfathered in.

You also need to use original parts using original molds to make new parts or salvage them off of existing ones making them extremely expensive to fly. They literally cost 4k us dollars to fly. The only way most groups are able to keep them running is through giving rids for around 4k an hour so that they can keep those planes maintained which is why so few are flying at the moment

The Last time I flew a corsair was in MS Flight Simulator 2. Would love to see a pacific theater.

Just praying they do a proper job with it, the naval air combat could be fantastic if they do. It was honestly the most enjoyable aspect of IL-2 1946, protecting your carrier and trying to sink the enemy fleet.

Currently the answer is no. They cannot find enough hard data on the performance of many of the japanese aircraft.

Probably next after Battle of Normandy...

they should release a Zero as a stand alone aircraft. I'd pay for that

I don't buy this, point. Hard data about Performance for the V-1 bomb is much easier to find to make than the japanese aircrafts? Who tells such a cheese?

I wonder why they not did a IL-2 1946 Anniversary Edition using this current Game Engine what they have what allows much better map quality and DM. Doing this way, we could have already all planes and maps from IL-2 1946 in much better Quality. A better FM can be always added later.

Looking for Japanese archived information is quite difficult.

Its not an issue for the non-flyable aircraft. Its an issue for the flyable stuff. Remember that for a full plane-set you need 10 Japanese aircraft all used in a 6 month to 1 year span which limits the aircraft you can use. You need good data to keep the quality of the flight and damage model well so that it is consistent with the other flyable aircraft. The issue with the Japanese stuff is that the technical specifications are harder to come across. Especially when it comes to the ships and carriers. Right now with the information that we do have the flight model for more than half of the Japanese plane-set would be identical to war thunder's flight model which for fans of this sim would be unacceptable.

Il2 1946 did NOT have a good flight model (compared to current il2) which is why they were able to get away with doing the Japanese plane-set since it matched the quality of the other planes. But under the current system you would have a bunch of well modeled planes and a have a lot of the Japanese planes not feel good at all. It would be kind of like the feeling of going from flying il2 to flying war thunder which for people like me would be unacceptable in this sim.

Doesn't matter if you buy it or not. That is the official statement from the developers. Until more data becomes available the pacific is on hold.
