Probably, dont know. But the game is a sim and real aircraft use joysticks for a reason.

I have a good flight joystick but I am not that good using it. I have been using the PS4 controller on my ps4 playing various flight games however and I do significantly better using that.

Well think about it. This is a sim and what do real aircraft use, it is definately not a console controller.

Aircrafts use that because thats the norm that has been molded by the aircraft industry. Also there are advantages to the system in real life mostly to do with space and control simplicity that have no effect when you play from your couch/chair. Not to mention that this is after all a game. Additionaly, even if it was all that better using a joystick, id still have to learn how to use it, which I dont have time to, whereas I already know how to use the ps4 controller really well. All in all, unless the games has controller support I dont see myself buying it.

Controller has a much shorter way of travel. might be difficult to be precise.

You can map a controller, it's just a poor choice. This is not War Thunder.

And what would this mapping entail ? Would it be something complicated and difficult ?

Mapping just means going through the control menu in the game and assign each button to a function of the plane. Obviously a PS4 controller is barelly going to cover all the controls you need to assign, so you will be using the keyboard a lot to do things like raise gear, open and close radiators etc.

The joystick was invented to apply levarage and and movement in the directions required, it was created from the outset to do just that even on the earliest aircraft. Console controllers were made for a completely different purpose. Using something that has been designed to play COD and Need for speed equally as well says it all.

For sure you can use a console controller.. you could use whatever you want in theory but this sim has a flight model designed to emulate as close as possible real aircraft flight. and what do all real aircraft use.... something which could have been changed many many times considering how long aircraft have been around.

I know it sounds snooty but we got a couple of choices here. We either accept games that everyone can play on a controller or try to make stuff that actually requires some investment in both cash and time to master.

Sorry, I been around long enough to see how the bean counters dumbed down the whole gaming/sim industry to achieve their aims and I am still not sure if the pros outweigh the cons when considering consoles and their effects.

Its not personel I promise, but to do the fm in this sim justice (sorry, try it and I am sure you would agree) is a quality HOTAS setup which on its own costs considerably more than a new top of the range console.

Yes I know you have neither the time or the money..

Nothing worth having comes easy.

No thanks.

If you want to play with a Game Console Controller you need to deal with the -> travel of the stick that is much shorter compared to a normal Joystick. I use a XBOX Controller and I am good as Hotas User but there was a long long way to go. Short said I needed to mod my Controller to be precise same as Hotas User.

Out of the Box ->> never but with some tweaks and mods perfect & cheap choice against Hotas TrackIR whatever........
