Can't Keep My Guns On Target
Hey, so, I'm still really new to this game, sitting at just a couple dozen hours. With that being said, I can't hit the broad side of a barn with my guns. Throughout the campaign I've mainly flown the Ju 87 and IL-2, since I felt that attacking something mostly immobile would help me hone my (lack of) aiming skills. I'm reasonably confident with bombs and rockets, but when I try to strafe truck convoys, artillery, and such, I fall apart.

My approaches feel fairly good; I line up a few enemies and go into a shallow dive from 200-ish meters, and reach a speed of just over 300kph. I'm fairly on-target until I get to around .5km away from the target, where when I try to adjust my aim a bit due to various subtle movements across the aircraft, my nose throws itself about, leading to a laughabley bad strafe.

Any useful tips or adjustments y'all could suggest for a rookie such as myself?

Keep practicing. I myself am still really bad with rockets put quite precise with strafing and bombs. Try to keep your sights a little below the target and let is come into the crosshair.

Make sure to crank up your sensitivty in-game settings! I started at 50%, and over a few weeks I finally settled at 75% - it's preference, and obviously people have different sticks ect. This might fix all your problems with aiming... (some planes are just harder to get guns on someone, fw190 comes to mind, but I still prefer it to a 109)

If you need to make a big adjustment on target aproach, your approach is bad. I never roll to readjust my aim... maybe a very small amount of rudder input to aim slightly left or right. After awhile when you get used to a certain aircraft, (i also started with ju87-good choice) you have a pretty good idea on how to trim your aircraft before engaging in a dive bomb attack, or strafe run ect. Also I always prefer to "roll" into my target approach. Just throwing the stick forward isn't smooth and recovery takes X amount of time to get back on a smooth flight path. And as Ivan said, lead into your target, ie start low and come up to it, very small gentle inputs if needed.

I can't speak of rockets since I am a German fan boy and get pleasure in killing Communists.

Pretty much, what the aces above me said.
I have my sensitivity of pitch at 80, roll 60 and yaw 62.

good hunting

It works for me.... but still far away from ace ;)

Yeah, tuning your input controls will help lots!

Thanks all! Upping the sensitivity has really helped!

Use your rudder for small left right adjustments when sighting up your run
