HOW TO GET COAL

Toopic says it all , im playing Build 141 , i tried Burning medium size (christmas tree / fir tree) but no coal .. I can only get coal from Coal Ore and there's maybe 5-6 ores i can find in 1st and 2nd island ... This is really dumb that Coal are the hardest to find -.-

Try mining the rocks. There are other minerals in the rocks as well.

Hi, I haven't played this game for a long time after completing it but I remember that I had never ran out of coal, that was probably because I built a house as when I had enough raw materials. Near the first fire pit, or camp fire which you would have to add coal and wood to start it in order to get warmth. But next to it, is a "broken" house. You can "repair" it. But I would rather repair the other "broken" house facing this one just because it's bigger and you could fit two furnaces in it, oh, if I remember correctly, once you repair it, it came with a fire stove or chimney like structure, i.e. you get warm up as soon as you enter this house. You may have to spend a lot of time managing your inventory. I started to craft "bags" quite early. The other tactics is to build a house big enough to accommodate at least two furnaces very near to a respawn stake, oh, not the one near the cave like structure on 1st island. Do craft a more powerful weapon so that you can one hit killing those skeletons as early as possible. This will make your adventure much easier. Do improve your bow skill. It really helps to deal with the wolves at night. Of course, craft better armour also helps. If you want hints, have a look at Kag Ang's Youtube channel. Be warned though, if you want to enjoy the adventure by searching around for clues and things, His videos on Savage Lands will totally destroy that. Hope this help.

I haven't played SL in awhile either. But I know on 1st. island, coal like other minerals are in the rocks. They have to be mined by taking a pick ax, hammer, or your bare hands, (if need be), to retrieve them. You can almost tell by the coloration of the rocks what they may have inside.
As for the abandoned building, I've just gotten the materials they have to offer for my 'village' rather than repair them. Usually most of those buildings are too far gone to bother to repair. Mostly they're just good for scraps. Otherwise you're wasting time and materials of your own to get those buildings in order.
Good idea to read the books at the 'outposts'. They tell of Legends and other things like 'How-To's' to help you build things and survive. (While reading those books, just keep an eye out for the pesty Skeletons that pop-up out of nowhere).

Actually there are 20 coal nodes on the starter island and you can also get coal from any of the large rocks. It is random. Coal nodes do respawn.
