Fixed it.
Well, it kinda fixed itself:
I ran the game, changed to windowed mode, moved it over to my main monitor, went into fullscreen via 'alt + enter' and restarted the game. It started on the right monitor and I could set the native resolution in the options.
-------------------------
I have a similar(ish) problem: The game runs on the wrong monitor on a multi-monitor setup. How can I change the default monitor?
I can set it to windowed, move the window it over to the main-monitor and go fullscreen with "alt + enter" BUT then there's only the resolutions available from the monitor it started originally. (In my case it's a 4:3 which is kinda annoying. :D )
As BlueBanana say, it seems as a problem with multi-monitor configuration.
I would suggest to first try the solution Kevin mentioned or alternatively launch Savage Lands with your <ALT> key pressed to get a popup to change settings.
~/.config/unity3d/Signal Studios & DigitalDNA Games/Savage Lands
Also there seems to be a graphics glitch that is affecting some Unity based games on Nvidia, don't know about AMD. It's the same as the bug I had on Hand of Fate. Using the -force-opengl startup option will work around it, but hopfully Unity will get it straightened out soon... unless it's an nvidia bug.... possible
As for multiplayer, hosting a game for up to 8 players does not require another copy of the game. This can be done through the game menu and you will be able to play yourself and have others join your session.
Only running a dedicated server currently requires a separate account to run and therefor another copy of the game. The developers do plan on making changes to the way a dedicated server is run to no longer require an extra copy. This is on their to-do list and will be implemented at a later stage of development.
Dont get me wrong I like the world I like the feel of the game I really enjoyed the ambiance the few hours Ive played, but Im not into playing with others outside of my real world freinds and the game just requires to high a commitment from them to get into it and solo play is over punishing.
I was hoping that I could go into a settings file somwhere and tweek things to make the game a little less starvation simulation. I dont like to mention other games usually but purely as an example my ARK server is configured completly diferently from the base game recource spawn rates hunger etc all altered some to make aspects harder and some to reduce grind. Id love to be able to do the same with savage lands. I was hoping that finding the config might give me an indication of if I could alter things to suit me better but if thats not the case its cool I have other titles in my library :-).
I hope you dont take this as me having a dig at the quality of the game Im not its just a play style thing. Ill check back in a few months and see what options have been implicated to control dedicated servers.
:-) cheers :-)
As the game goes through development and new features get implemented, balance is an ongoing process. The developers do their best to get the 'core' difficulty just right without offering a variety of settings you may find in other games. One big difference with other games is the fact that characters created do carry over to any world and this includes multiplayer worlds. You can most likely imagine how this can possibly affect game-play and has its implications.
If there will be options to configure this in the future is up to the developers. I am sure they will consider certain options, especially when it comes to dedicated server implementation and multiplayer in general but has no priority at the moment. For now they focus on the base game and the overall experience, trying to get the balance just 'right'.
I do find this an interesting discussion and certainly appreciate your feedback. Will be interesting to see how this game will develop over time and what options will be offered, especially when it comes to multiplayer. I can certainly see a wish for such options.
Thanks for sharing, cheers.
As you say the charicter stays with you so differing settings on different servers could be problimatic for all sorts of reasons even if you dont consider cheat servers. This is somthing that needs to be worked at to get right I think so Im happy to wait. Like I said I really do like the feel of the game so hopefully these things will come in time if not I will just save the game for when I can give it more time.
I apologise if i have hijacked the thread it really wasnt my intention I was just gonna have a peek under the hood so to speak lol anyway time to crash thanks for the freindly response :-)
