MKX Alt-Tab's on its own?

Hey all,

Has anyone experienced the game Alt-Tabbing back to desktop on its own? I actually experienced this in Mortal Kombat: Komplete Edition several months back, where every few days I'd be playing and it would Alt-Tab on its own.

This has also been occurring with Mortal Kombat X, but since the latest patch from May 6th it's happening a lot more; I'd say every 45 minutes to an hour as opposed to every few days.

This isn't game breaking, just annoying. Since Alt-Tabbing is pretty broken in Mortal Kombat X, the game "freezes" and I see my desktop mouse cursor on the screen. I need to click and then I'll be back at my desktop, and then I need to click Mortal Kombat X in the Task Bar to get back to the game and all's well.

I did some searching on Google, and apparently games in general randomly Alt-Tabbing on their own is a thing people have experienced when using a Controller, but fixes are not concrete and seem to vary from partial to full fixes from person to person. The cause as well seems to vary.

Sometimes it seems it's a program taking priority over the game when auto-checking for updates, other times it's a certain combination the user is accidentally inputting on the Controller that functions as an Alt-Tab. Note I am generally playing the game around the same few hour period each night.

Again, is anyone else experiencing this, and if so, have you found a fix?

My system specs are:

- Windows 8.1 64-Bit
- Intel Core i5 4440 3.1 GHz
- 8 GB Ram
- nVidia GeForce GTX 750 Ti with the 350.12 Drivers
- Direct X 11.2
- Hori Gem EX Pad

Wish I could be of more help, but I just want to say that I've been experiencing this as well. I've been searching for a fix for this too, but no go sadly. It's happened to me on other games as well, but not as frequent as MKX.

This happens to me every hour so too, which has resulted in a lot of freezing of my game. Like I said, wish I could help more, but so far my searches have come up with nothing! If anyone has any suggestions it'd be most appreciated!

Do you use a Controller to play the game, and if so, which one? What's your system specs?

I've only had this a few times and I think the cause was a message on skype somehow changing the focus of my PC. A little odd.

@Kilgore Yeah, I'm also trying to find if it's a background process.

Right now, I'm testing with disabling nVidia Shield Stream, which I never use but is on by default.

There's a program or service that "wakes up" in your system that causing the alt-tabbing. In my case, it's the bluestacks. Just try closing those non-system services or programs in your task manager and observe if it eliminates the alt-tabbing..

Yup, I'm actually testing that. I suspect nVidia Shield Stream might be part of it, and I'm closing that. I might not be able to test more until the weekend though.

Also, it might be related to the Controller I use.

Thanks man! I'm sure I will, it'll just take more trial and error, and perhaps some patching as I noticed this issues increased dramatically after the last patch.

Even if it stays as is now, the game is quite playable for me; this is more of an annoyance thing beyond anything else.

When it tabs you out on the desktop dose it have a ring around your mouse thing, it seem every tiem i get tabd out thats what it dose

You mean a blue circle where your desktop mouse pointer would be?

It either does that, or just shows the desktop mouse pointer.

If I figure out how to stop it, I'll definitely update this thread.

From my search on Google though, in general, it's not always the same thing, so the cause for me may be different than the cause for you.

Doesn't hurt to try options though!
