Black screen on startup
Prior to the patch I was able to play the game, the day of the patched-patch I was able to start the game, but it was unplayable. Now I can't even launch the game. Whenever I try to launch the game I just get a blackscreen. Any suggestions?

Your PC setup?
I have the same problem (black screen at launch) and the cause is my CPU.
I have a i7 5960X (8 cores/16 theads) with the hyperthreading on.

The solution is to disable hyperthreading in the bios and game work fine...

I find it unacceptable to have to mess with the bios to be able to enjoy a game....
Left it about 3 hours and it didnt load. I've got an i7-3770K 4 cores and a 680 with 4G memory

♥♥♥♥ that's ridiculous. I hope they put another 15gig patch out soon so that the game can ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ launch.

I have two PC's, both with Core i7's. One (the desktop) has Windows 8.1, and the game runs fine. The other (a gaming laptop) has the Windows 10 preview, and it doesn't work. It worked on the laptop prior to the patch, but now it does not. I bought this for PC specifically so I could play while away from home on the laptop, so this has been a pain in the arse. It appears that Windows 10 is to blame. It does say on the store page that Windows 10 is supported, though.

It's a cluster muck.

This worked for me

Mortal Kombat X – MKX.exe has stopped working or Black screen on startup

If you are experiencing Black Screen or startup or mkx.exe has stopped working when you launch the game. You must download and install the latest Graphic Card drivers to resolve this issue. If problem persists then delete the Option.ini (configuration file), from %APPDATA%\MK10.
I searched through the entire MK10 folder and can't find it. Suppose I'll have to wait for a patch.

It's not in the install folder. They don't make it easy to find. Mine is here:

C:\Users\[Insert Your Computer Name Here]\AppData\Roaming\MK10

However, I couldn't navigate directly to it. I had to do a serach for options.ini from my start menu and then go to open folder location. It's a total pain in the @$$.
Found the file and thought the game would load up but after about 20 seconds a black window popped up in the upper left hand corner of my screen that took up a little more than 25% of my screen.

Black screen or not starting usally happen for me if the game freeze and i Log out of the comp instead of turning it off, but if i restart comp it works again

I removed Windows 10 and am running 8.1 again, and it works fine.

I managed to make it work without msconfig or diabling hyperthreading in bios. Google 3DM_up6 Mortal Kombat X and apply the patch. I got it from 3dm-games and works without any issues.

Sad to see a game made in 2015 requires fixes to make it playable like some pre-2000 game. And that the fix for this doesn't come from the developers.

You won't be able to SHIFT + TAB or enter faction war after doing that. Just enter MK10, leave. Click on MK10's properties and verify the game's integrity. After that is complete you will be able to SHIFT + TAB in game and join the faction war.
