MK9 has better and more content.
MKX has a lot better gameplay.
MKX feels like another remake rather than sequel to MK9. Because its not better and bigger, its just same and different. If only MKX was expansion to MK9.
But maybe they will level it up with content.
Online play aside, MK9 is an objectively bad game. MK9 is basically broken to the point of being unplayable. There are many game breaking glitches in MK9, such as the infamous input bug.
I mainly had to put up with input delay. My inputs could be delayed for at least a half second, which makes a match unplayable because one can't block on reaction or do optimal combos reliably with delayed inputs.
1: Exactly. Nostalgia. You can't really count it.
2: Both games have arenas that are pretty boring and/or bland, but MKX has less arenas (or so it seems), so here MK9 wins.
3: New fighters are nice and bring more variety. The only one I really hate is Ferra/Torr because apparently nobody plays it, and they are boring anyway; Sheeva and Baraka were pretty bland, especially Sheeva since she was basically a female Goro. Draw, because most of new characters are just ok in MKX. Not bad (especially Cassie and Erron, these are fun), but for the most part simply ok.
4: MKX overall is less violent than MK9. There is however battle damage, and it's more realistic, so here it's entirely personal preference.
5: Story was short, that's the only thing that was bad with it.
6: Faction kills are not bad, they are just not that violent, and as I mentioned above, MKX overall is not as violent as MK9.
7: Why not? MK as a tournament (and in MKX there is no tournament) allows everything. Your objective is to win.
Overall your list is entirely subjective, but it all can be boiled down to this:
1-People for the most part agree that MK9 had more content (for the most part because of challenge tower that I love for helping me with learning characters)
2-People for the most part agree that MKX has better gameplay, especially for competitive play. No, I am not talking about online, it has always been bad in their games, I'm talking about the overall gameplay. It's sort of like CS:S and CS:GO: one is for fun, the other is for more of a serious play.
Which one do I prefer? So far I like MKX, but absence of challenge tower makes me wonder how much time I will actually spend on it
Agreed. MKX is the best fighting game to date. The game was just released. After a month or two, after few fixes and patches, MKX will be a diamond.
MKX on Ps4 is a diamond already. There the online works flawless. Region locked matchmaking. Huge player base.
PC is suffering hard with online right now.
Not sure if trolling or just ignorant
And in general, it is a good game. But since i already own MK9, the price i paid wasn´t worth it.
Thats how people who always buy the newest fifa must feel like.
