MKX is a single player game

That's it, I can't state this more clearly: after putting 150 online matches into this game it is clear that the online experience if one of the worst in recent memory.

To put it simply, the game functions very differently online than it does offline because of the lag: the timings are different, defensive tactics doesn't work, zoning is dead. You'll spend most of your time trying to block overhead-low mixups but of course because of the lag that won't really work out in your favor even if you nail their timings. The lag favors the stupid player who just rushes you down and inputs two combos by the time one comes out. Will you get a low or an overhead attack? That is up to a coin toss because the 50/50 gameplay is strong in this one and most of the attacks are just too fast to judge based on their animations.

After this it should not come as a surprise that the matchmaking doesn't work: the absolute best players and cheese tactics stay alive here, if you're avarage, just learning the game or you want some casual fun don't bother. You'll meet with two kinds of players: those who absolutely destroy you (the game loves to put you up against these guys 3 times in a row btw. because barely anyone is playing this ♥♥♥♥ing game) and those who get destroyed by you. Learning the game? Impossible, there is no chance to improve in an environment like this.

Of course the players are part of the problem too: have fun fighting against Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Kung Jin, Erron Black and Takeda with the occasional Jacqui spammer or Ferra / Torr cheeser. Players are generally rude to each other in the rooms telling each other to "suck a ♥♥♥♥" or just "get rekt", whatever that last one means in this strange animal kingdom. Even the good players don't have manners, a lot of them will just teabag you and call it a day guess because sexual frustration is still a thing these days.

You want to have a good time? Play single player! The AI is quite the challenge on very hard and you get to enjoy the game how it was meant to be played: precise timings, good tactical gameplay and nice punishes flow like they should. You won't get this online, only a laggy, broken shell of a fighting game.

Lol definitely right about MM not working. I get destroyed and made me play against the same guy like 3 times. I'm not very good and hoped I'd get ranked against someone with same skill.

I just wanted to que up ranked and some KOTH but refuse to play it in its current state...it just feels like ♥♥♥♥ online.

Yeah a game like this, you need a very low latency in order to enjoy online play fully. But it's PC so who cares.

i've got about 200 matches online now, and if i dont play with a specific player, on a specific day, in a specific month, the lag is so bad i beat my head against the wall thinking that i wasted my time trying to learn how to play this game. it's been my first fighting game in a long time, since marvel vs capcom 2 lol, and the fighting is good, i enjoy it, but when you play human players online it just gets so frustrating it makes me come onto the forums and post unnecessary ♥♥♥♥ at 12am. i have a good rig, it's not the pc. damn this game for having online in the first place, at least the pc version. apparently console is alright.

Yeah that's the best part: realizing that something you practiced doesn't work or works different online. :D

Add people who are good even if it lags a bit. For some reason private versus has a better connection than the rooms or even ranked. If you add good people and just play privately with them in long sets you will have more fun and improve ten fold.
