Can Raiden ACTUALLY die?

I know that in the Original Timeline Raiden is said to be dead, but I'm wondering if he can actually be killed? At the end of MKX Shinnok cannot be killed, it seems as his decapitated head is still living, and yes I know that Shinnok is an Elder God and Raiden is only a God but surely the same rules would apply?

if you haven't watched Mortal Kombat Legacy yet, slight SPOILER WARNING:

in the episode about raiden, where he is in the mental institute he asks one of the other "inmates" to kill him, after she stabs him his bodey explodes and he spawns somewhere else so he probably cant get killed by a human. unless the legacy lore does not apply.

also at the end of the klassik tower with quan chi - again SPOILER WARNING:

the elder gods take quan chi's free will and task him to kill raiden, so maybe he can get killed under certain circumstances

Raiden did infact die to become the god he is now, but it has never been stated if normal gods can be killed. But by watching the end of the game where Raiden becomes Dark Raiden, atleast we know they can be influenced to change.
