I have just received Dark Liu Kang's Skin by winning 8 consecutive Challenge Towers. Tomorrow, I will play 8 consecutive Living Towers and see if I unlock Revenant Liu Kang's skin there. If not, then your statement must be true and therefore I am going to wait for the next patch.
About 10 Challenge Towers for Dark Emperor
1) There are multiple ways that skins can be unlocked, but people lately have been discovering the sure fire ways to get certain skins.
2) Don't pay any attention to anything that says "Get Your Special Move Rank to Level 10" to unlock the Liu Kang Revenant skin. This method was debunked some time ago.
3) Some people are dumb or don't pay attention and/or don't realize that there's a difference between Dark Emperor Liu Kang and Reveanant Liu Kang. Same goes for Dark Empress Kitana and Revenant Kitana. As a result you'll get people telling you the wrong strategies for unlocking things like Revenant Liu Kang, ie "play Challenge Towers" which is how you unlock Dark Emperor Liu Kang not Reveant Liu Kang.
What do you propose for Revenant Liu Kang then? I have over 40 Ranked Wins with D'Vorah and I have yet to unlock it. Do I have to get those wins with Liu Kang?
That's the other thing I forgot to mention. It doesn't matter what character you play with. For instance you don't have to beat the Test You Might tower as Sub-Zero to get his Revenant skin.
You can try playing some matches as Liu Kang, but that doesn't mean you're going to unlock the Revenant Liu Kang skin.
As I said before there are different methods to unlocking costumes and there aren't any exact numbers to anything either. Some people unlocked Empror Liu Kang after doing 4 or 5 Challenge Towers while others didn't unlock it until doing 10 or 12 Challenge Towers.
If you want a 100% sure fire way to get the costumes you're basically going to have to wait until some body discovers all of them.

getting level 10 in special moves unlocks it on ps4. I can 100% verify as I was curious and avoided doing any towers until I met this criteria.
It does not work. It has been confirmed by now.
Does it matter which Living Tower we do? The hourly, daily, or premier, and can we switch it up between matches or does it have to be 8 of the same towers in a row?
And does this have to be done within the time limit, or can time run out and not affect the 8-tower streak?
