How do you tech throws?

I'm assuming it's not press grab when they do even though that would be the sensible option..

1 techs back throws (the default throw) 2 techs forward throw (holding forward and throw)

If you press the throw button it will only tech a back throw. (1+3)

Thanks for the reply. I got killed buy the lamest reset loop and I was pressing 1+3 for each tech feeling stupid that it wasn't working.
