This is them taking it "easy" on me (not as brutal as most of my matches have been). It got to where I put the controller on my lap, and pressed Y for like 8 matches, until it worked. No fun involved. I can beat anything else in this game, including online people, but this...Story mode on "Hard"...is unbelievable. Never experienced a difficulty like it in my entire lifetime. This is coming from a severe fighting game professional. Held tournaments at my house and everything, for many games. Only lost like 3 times out of around 30 or so fights in those tournaments.
I am all about a challenge. Wouldn't have chosen Hard as my Story difficulty otherwise, but this registers well past their normal Hard (in Battles) on the difficulty scale in Story mode. This is just absurd.
This is how i do it, i choose a character and play with it in training mode. Learn the basic, basic combo's and core gameplay. When i've got the hang of it, i'm going to try more advanced combo's and special moves.
After that, i'm going to try different character styles and other characters. After a while, you will get the hang of it. I won my first 3 single-player battles without losing.
I can do live towers, campaign and single fight on medium difficulty. Just by spending some time in training mode.
This has *always* been the case in Netherealm games. If you watched Max's stream when they were playing through the Klassic MK games, they commented on the AI being the exact same way in that.
In UMK3 the common exploit was the jump back loop. Although, while ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ button/frame reading AI is a thing that is more associated with Netherealm games, those sorts of AI breaking exploits aren't at all exclusive to their games. Old Capcom fighters had the jabjab uppercut or crouching short uppercut exploit, which was pretty uniform across a couple games.
