There is official drivers for XP, but newer windows have Xbox drivers internal.
This.
I have 2x Wired, 2x Wireless Xbox 360, and 2 Xbox One controllers. Never have an issue with either.
Currently using 2 White Xbox One controllers to play this with my girl.
Official Xbox drivers.

The cable, the "play and charge kit" does not turn your wireless controller into a wired one. You need a wireless receiver to use your wireless 360 remotes on your pc. Once you have that, you install their drivers :

and its good to go.
Just make sure that before you launch MKX , the controller is turned on and connected to your PC , and launch it. Don't press enter to get to the main menu, but press the A button to activated the controller. I believe this is the only time you can activate it in game.
This solved the issue with my Sabertooth. The game says "Press Ent" but When I press the "A" button it recognizes the Sabertooth. Counter-intuitiive but I suppose par for the course with this launch.
You won't have trouble with either.
You can get a wired Xbox360/Windows for about $30. A Wireless one with the adapter for $50-60 depending where you get it, sometimes less. Xbox One controller for $60.
All of these work with no issues with nearly any game with the exception of some serious M+K games like Civilization and such.
Thats true.
For 8 years, there have been ZERO issues with Xbox 360 controller on PC games.
Why? Its been the standard for 8 years on PC, and Indies and big devs uses it as standard.
Xbox controllers never need to be configured on PC. They are always default mapped same as they are on 360 and Xbox One. If you dont like default "console" controls, you can always change.
Personally i always have to enable "inverted camera" on any game. Thats the only thing.
