My gameplay tends to look more like what you see with that last round in the video. A mix-up of low or high combos, played defensively to prevent your opponent from doing any combos on you. Can't really zone scorpion, so you have to pressure him with your own 50/50s. Of course, his leg wake-up trumps everything but a low block or jumping over it.
Problem is some characters are very difficult to defend against (such as erran black, takida, or kung jin) which is where an equalizing large combo to punish with would come in handy.
So pressing 114 as fast as you can will do the string... but to combo after you might need to wait until the other guy starts to fall before entering the next part of the combo. This is really hard online as well due to lag.
I often find that when I am having problems it is caused by trying to enter the strings to fast and not waiting for the timing. It isn't a single massive string.. but a combination of strings.
The best idea is to find a easy combo to start on. Then break it down into parts. Do not try to learn the entire combo in one go. Work it out in steps.. get the start happening... then the middle, then the end.
Take this one for D'Vorah. It is a great combo, though a little hard to do online, so I modified it.. still it is a great example of what I am talking about.
f44,f34,b12xd1+3
This is a sweet 32% all variations combo that looks awesome!
To learn it start with f44,f34 This is pretty easy... you should get that going really fast.
Then try b12xd1+3... this means do the string b12 cancel into down throw. This is not hard either.. but can be a bit tricky on a gamepad I think.. but learn it.
Then the real hard bit is ... f34,b12 forward 34 kinda kicks the other guy over your head, b12 is the popup. You need to work out the timeing to flip him and hit the popup.. Now just punching it in as fast as possible will not work.. you need to time it as well.
Then once you have that and if you are like me it will take a while.. start adding the "cancel to throw" thing at the end.
Then your set.. as the f44 starter is not hard at all.
I use a arcade stick... I couldn't handle a D-Pad personally. The 360 D-Pad is universally recognized as one of the worst ever produced. Besides really strange ones. like this monstrosity!

hahahaa
Also I recently bought a HitBox.. I saw it during combo breaker as a ad on one of the streams and it looks awesome.. so thought I would give it a go.
It is really odd.. basically it has no joystick... just buttons for direction. So it is kinda like a massive D-Pad controller. Like the EvilGenius ones.
Anyway I thought it would be cool. I'm loving MKX on pc and expect Injustice 2 as well eventually... so thought I'd give it a shot!

I would wish Reptile had more damaging combos, and that his nimble variation came out faster. I find myself only using noxious because I could never land nimble combos thanks to the awful netcode. Also wish he had a human ninja skin.
I didn't mind as much in MK9 when he never spoke and just made hissing noises and junk. Then he starts talking in this game and his voice irritates me so much xD. Its just my personal preference. I fell in love with MK movie reptile, so that's my reason for prefering him as a human.
Haha, funny you should say that. I actually hate Ermac's design in this game and prefered him in MK9 (especially the ninja costume). I think he looks like an ugly old wizard/mummy; also dislike how he floats.
MK 9 I used to a lot the human skin Ermac , but end up liking more the MK 9 costume more because all those klassic skin were pretty simple idea.
I have no idea, there's no real reason to use it yo.
