Controller D-Pad too sensitive?
hey guys,

i recently bought an Speedlink Strike NX Gamepad and theoretically its very nice and cheap gamepad for MKX i thought. But the D-Pad got the same problem like the xbox 360 controller i guess....If i press left or right too firmly the "up-button" on the dpad gets activated and my character also jumps. kinda annoying...

i cant callibrate the dpad in the windows gamepad settings...is there any solution for that like a software?

The short answer is no. D-pads are digital inputs, so don't have a concept of sensitivity. If you push too far in one direction, and another direction gets pressed, it gets activated. It's not like an analog stick where you could, theoretically increase the dead zone (though xinput sticks don't allow changing the dead zone).

There are some less expensive controllers that have good d-pads, but generally, you get what you pay for. Sorry.

How about practicing not pushing too hard?
It's very common among beginners getting nervous and pushing unwanted directions.
Get a feel of how hard you need to push for it to register and push no further than that.
well i dont have hands like a piano player but i also dont smash the buttons like a jackhammer... if i want to pull off combo it just happens...i mean its very very sensitive...maybe an ps3/4 controller could be better for me?

The PS3 and PS4 controllers have pretty good d-pads. Be aware that the PS3 controller is not natively supported in Windows. You'll need a third-party driver for it. Some people use MotionInJoy, but I prefer Scarlet Crush's driver. You'll need a Bluetooth adapter to use those wirelessly.

If you don't mind a wire, the Xbox One controller is pretty good, though the d-pad and shoulder buttons are clicky, which I don't love.

The Hori Pad EX 2 has a good d-pad and a six-button layout, but is no longer in production and is very expensive now. The Hori Gem Pad probably has the same pad, though a normal Xbox layout. I don't have first-hand experience with that pad, though.

The Hori Fighting Commander 4 looks promising, too, though I don't have experience with that one, either.

How about going with the Xbox 360 pads?
The ones with the transforming d-pad are pretty good actually.
thanks for your help! do you think i am comfortable with an standard xbox360 gamepad? isnt there the same problem when u push left or right and also hit the up or down button too?
i mean i could refund this strike nx for an 360 gamepad..i would prefer a clicky dpad more than a oversensitive dpad...

The transforming one is a lot better than the original pad, but it's still floaty to me. I also don't think the MadCatz fightpad's pad is very good. But they work well for some people.

nope gotta get a new d-pad. ook up 'Hori Fighting Commander 4'. It's a ps4 pad but those work seamlessly on pc, no need for extra drivers or other crap like for ps3 controllers.

OR, find any old PowerA 360 controller. they have the good dpad

Xbox One controller for PC is really good for fighting games :) I use it.

I'll agree when the damned wireless receiver comes out and my Xbox One controller is finally allowed to do anything but collect dust on my desk.

i got an xbox one controller and it's perfeclty fine. But if you aren't a bloody beginner in deassevmling and reassembling stuff or so you could try at your own risk to replace the buttons in your current controller with some that aren't so easy to push.
But software wont get you far with this :/

If i would get some standard xbox 360 gamepad...will it be the same problem?

There's a reason a revised version of the 360 controller was made.
The design of the original d-pad was crap and they eventually started getting spongy or locking up to the point where they would not register commands.
I would not buy the original one, no matter how cheap.

I just use my ps3 pad. No complaints on my end.

Do not buy a standard Microsoft 360 controller for fighting games, the d-pad is one of the worst out there, it's a solid controller otherwise. The PS4 (DS4) controller is supported native in MKX and works much better due to a superior d-pad. Or... buy a fightstick for the best 'fighting game' experience.
